Psalm 34:4  "For I cried to him and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears."  We all have fears, right?  I fear becoming sick and dependent on someone.  I fear for not only my own life but my daughters. Those are not uncommon fears and I have learned to cope by putting it on God. It works most of the time, except in the middle of the night when I can't sleep, how about you?  Take it to the Lord in prayer.

On this day
1989  It was a hot and humid day.  While I did the house cleaning and laundry, Joe and Colleen from across the street came to play with Nicole, who was four.  Joey was here all the time and Colleen was maybe 8 or 9 at the time, but my house was air conditioned.  Colleen overdosed a few years ago on heroin and her older sister is on the way to the same end now.  Joey was the only one that survived drugs and disillusionment by moving to Florida. I like to think the time he spent with us in our family and going to church with us helped in some way.  There is another sibling Christopher that Joe called and asked me to keep an eye on.  He is now early 20's goes to school part time, lives with Mom but doesn't work.  He, also seems lost and indifferent when I talk to him.  I pray.

1950 - The U.N. Security Council authorized military aid for South Korea.  History repeats itself.

The Cathedral of the Assumption is a Catholic cathedral[1] located in Majuro,[2] Republic of the Marshall Islands.[3] It is the seat of the Apostolic Prefecture of the Marshall Islands, which covers the entire country, as well as Wake Atoll (dependent on the United States). It is located in the city center.
The current apostolic prefect is Raymundo Sabio.[4]
It was built in 1898, with the arrival of the missionaries of the Order of the Sacred Heart in Majuro Atoll. It is separated from the Diocese of the Carolines and Marshall Islands on April 23, 1993, under Pope John Paul II.  Go forth and make disciples!  Good job! Catholics!!!

Deuteronomy 33:27  "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are (His) everlasting arms."
This is from the 5th book of the old Testament, with a message that is repeated continually through the Bible.  God is eternal and God is our strength for this life and our destiny for the next life.   You can trust God to be there for you - you just need to be there for God.

1988  My neighbors had two little boys and occasionally, I would have them for the day while they worked.  David and Josh were great kids and our families spent a lot of time together.  Nicole was three this year so I'm guessing Josh was two and not as comfortable to be away from his Mom.  Aaron (11) was here though and David (7)  loved Aaron - Josh loved Nicole's   Little Tyke kitchen and he made toast all day long.  David, the dad, and my brother Andy installed a new front door for me that evening.  Even though Mark was at the boat store most days my house was always a beehive of activity.  I loved it and fondly remember these old neighbors.

1483 - King Richard III of England was crowned. Here is your Jeopardy question for the day.

Economy[edit]

On September 15, 2007, Witon Barry, of the Tobolar Copra processing plant in the Marshall Islands' capital of Majuro, said power authorities, private companies and entrepreneurs had been experimenting with coconut oil as an alternative to diesel fuel for vehicles, power generators and ships. Coconut trees abound in the Pacific's tropical islands. Copra from 6 to 10 coconuts makes 1 litre of oil.[2]
The town has a port, shopping district, hotels, and an international airport.  Think how nice the emissions would smell with coconut oil fuel.

Psalm 40:11 "Do not withhold your mercy from me, O Lord; may your love and your truth always protect me."  Although in some old testament stories God does withhold his love, for example Lot who became a pawn between God and Satan.  Lot loved the Lord above everything and proved it as the Devil poured more and more destruction on Lot and his family and earthly goods.  God won, Lot did not lose his faith in God.  This can happen to us as well.  The Devil puts us in harms way in this earthly life and it is often unavoidable. Car accidents, drownings, fires and wars happen in our lives.  But you can still be sure that through it all God will be there to comfort and take you home when it is over.

1987  I went to Red Run Golf Course with my mother in law and Jan to Andrea's shower.  I have no recollection of this day but, I can tell you, it was extremely extravagant with delicious food.  I know that because that part of the family was very much into decor and, well, extravagance.  I am not even sure if it was a wedding shower or baby shower.  Andrea moved to California and I think only came home for this recognition of family.  I don't believe we even went to the wedding.  I'm sure it was a pleasant and well fed day though and wish I knew more of what happened to all of them.

1806 - A Spanish army repelled the British during their attempt to retake Buenos Aires, Argentina. When did it stop being Portuguese?

Didn't find a picture of the Cathedral or Museum.  This might be the largest building in all of the Marshall Islands.    Capital Building.  of course

Just look at all those young people in uniform that have gone through boot camp, run miles carrying over a hundred pounds of supplies, just to be prepared for fighting for your freedom.  They are in shape to go out and possibly die for our right to live the way we want.  Now that is being fit.  When you work through what ever activity you do to keep yourself in shape, think of those soldiers and how they have been pushed to excellence and say a prayer for their safety!  God Bless America!

Get Faith
Psalm 55:23  "But as for me, I trust in you."  Who do you trust?  I have many people in my life that I can trust to be there for me and support me with kindness and care. I have the armed forces to protect my freedom.   Not everyone has that.  I would guess most often that those who don't have support with people here on earth very often don't feel like they have support from God either. When you separated yourself from relationships that same trait can also keep you away from God.  God is the one you can go to with all of your troubles. He is the only one that will be with you on that last day.

1986  Cousins Barb and Bill came over and with Mark, Marty, Nicole and I we went over to Muscamoot to spend the day.  It started out great, then clouded up started blowing and then raining.  It was a rough ride home, not sure if we had the open skiff "Shoestring" or the Four Winns cruiser but we made it back and my one year old daughter never developed a fear of boating.  It couldn't have been too bad.  Hope your 4th of July goes better and that you enjoy whatever it is you do!

Dalap-Uliga-Djarrit Marshall Islands
The Marshall Islands, officially the Republic of the Marshall Islands (MarshalleseAolepān Aorōkin M̧ajeļ),[note 1] is an island country located near the equator in the Pacific Ocean, slightly west of the International Date Line. Geographically, the country is part of the larger island group of Micronesia. The country's population of 53,158 people (at the 2011 Census[4]) is spread out over 29 coral atolls,[2] comprising 1,156 individual islands and islets.
The islands share maritime boundaries with the Federated States of Micronesia to the west, Wake Island to the north,[note 2] Kiribati to the southeast, and Nauru to the south. About 27,797 of the islanders (at the 2011 Census) live on Majuro, which contains the capital.[2]  small but stragic location.

Romans 8:38  "For I am convinced that nothing can  ever separate us from His love.  Death can't, and life can't.  The angels won't, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God's love away."  Let's take these words  "For I am convinced".  Why and how can I be convinced?  My faith.  I truly believe in God.  If I believe in a powerful all encompassing God that really loves me, why would I not believe in this statement?  If I read the Bible, pray and worship God on a regular basis my faith grows and is strengthened.  I am convinced that nothing can ever separate me from His love.  I share this so you can have the same comfort.

1985  Nothing motivates like having a big party at your house, but this year it wasn't me, I had a new little baby.  Nicole had been born in May.  Norma came over and we layed in the sun and played with Nicole while Mark cleaned the garage and shopped for all the food for a 4th of July party here. He loved to entertain and BBQ, and was very good at it.  We had a lot of parties here.

Psalm 52:8  "But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever."  I have lived in a lot of homes until I was planted here 40 years ago.  Most locations had their own different stories but I can remember and know that God's hand was on me and He watched over me, like a well tended olive tree wherever I was.  You can find yourself in all types of circumstances from homeless to mansions and God is there with you.  You just need to to recognize him.  He loves you.

1983  Every year in my life was a different scenario.  This year, Andy, Alice, Ty and Norma all lived here and Tony and  Teresa were here most of the time.  Almost like a commune.  We barbecued all the time and enjoyed each others company.  It didn't last - but for the time it was great.  We all moved on from here.  On this day I laid on the deck and sunbathed all day.  (I wonder who tended the yard?)

1298 - An army under Albert of Austria defeated and killed Adolf of Nassua near Worms, Germany. I guess they didn't have last names in those days and I hope I would never be planted in Worms.

History[edit]

Majuro Atoll was claimed by the German Empire with the rest of the Marshall Islands in 1884, and the Germans established a trading outpost. As with the rest of the Marshalls, Majuro was captured by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1914 during World War I and mandated to the Empire of Japan by the League of Nations in 1920. The island then became a part of the Japanese mandated territory of Nanyo; although the Japanese had established a government in Nanyo, local affairs were mostly left in the hands of traditional local leaders until the start of World War II.
U.S. Fifth Fleet at Majuro Atoll 1944.
On January 30, 1944, United States troops invaded. In 1986, Marshall Islands become an independent nation and Delap-Uliga-Djarrit become the country's capital.
This is a short concise history, but significant!

I listened to a song yesterday  by Celia Whitler called In the Secret.  Here are some verses "I want to touch you... I want to see your face.....I want to love you more..."  Many songs speak of seeing God's face but my take is this.  When I see your face I see Jesus, Jesus is all the people.  We are called to look like Jesus in our actions, in the way we treat one another.  I see His face  you when you love, are caring and help another person.  We are called to be kind so that when people see us as Christians they see Jesus.  We are called to worship alone and together to be the Holy people of God and reflect the image He created us in.  "I want to see you."

1981  This was a busy time this year.  I had construction going on after my house burned half down.  It says they took the dining room down and had done a lot of the framework for the new half of the addition I was able to add to the house.  This was my second house fire, no I'm not an arsonist, but I didn't want to move out of what was left of my house so I stayed while the work was going on.  It was a little like camping - half the house was open, only covered in tarp and plastic.  We all have experiences in our lives, it is not how bad it was  but how you dealt with it.

1981 - The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that candidates for federal office had an "affirmative right" to go on national television. And on Twitter?  hum.
