Get Faith
John  "Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair....."  This was Lazarus and Martha's sister, a family that Jesus spent a lot of time with mentioned in the Gospels.  Mary was devoted to Jesus, she knew who he really was, I am thinking.  She knew that no one else had been on the earth, had done the things he had done and taught the things that He had taught.  She knew he was the Son of God and believed in him.  She hung on His every word.  Be Mary this Holy week.

On this day
1988  I took Nicole with me to the therapist.  Mark and I had  been going to see this marriage counselor and Mark was supposed to continue alone.  This was my last visit with the guy and he told me that in the best interest of my health and my child's welfare I should quit the marriage and cut my losses.  It wasn't something that surprised me, well it did coming from him,  but it was a call to action.  One that I didn't take.  Nicole was going to turn three and I would have lost the relationship I had with Aaron so I decided to stick it out.  It lasted another 5 years.  I realize that this blog goes out to only a few and they will understand this.  I don't hold regret toward Mark, he was a victim as well and in the long run all worked out well for all of us. God is good.

1813 - U.S. troops under James Wilkinson attacked the Spanish-held city of Mobile that would be in the future state of Alabama. I'm not that old but I think I went to school with this guy.

Yemen

Yemen (/ˈjɛmən/ (About this soundlisten)Arabicٱلْيَمَن‎, translit. al-Yaman), officially known as the Republic of Yemen (Arabicٱلْجُمْهُورِيَّة ٱلْيَمَنِيَّة‎, translit. al-Jumhūrīyah al-Yamanīyah), is a country at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Yemen is the second-largest Arab sovereign state in the peninsula, occupying 527,970 square kilometres (203,850 square miles). The coastline stretches for about 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles).[7] It is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and Guardafui Channel to the south, and the Arabian Sea and Oman to the east. Yemen's territory includes more than 200 islands.  Not much on Dharma.

John chapter 8  "Again (Jesus) said to them, "I am going away, and you will search for me, but you will die in you sin.  Where I am going, you cannot come."  He was speaking to the Jews, they did not recognize him as the Son of God and so are denied entrance to Heaven with Him.  So from His lips - if you don't know Him now, reach out for the Gospel and learn about how you can believe in Him and have eternal life.  Do it now.

On this day
1987  Mom came over and took care of Nicole (2) all day, I was under the weather.  Not surprising for a 39 year old Mom to be under the weather when you have a two year old.  Makes me feel better that now, 32 years later I am tired but using the excuse that I am 72.  How about you?  Do you have all the energy you need and feel great?  Will you write and tell me your secret?

1987 - Dikye Baggett became the first person to undergo corrective surgery for Parkinson’s disease.  I didn't know there was such a thing.

The conflict has resulted in a famine that is affecting 17 million people.[33] The lack of safe drinking water, caused by depleted aquifers and the destruction of the country's water infrastructure, has also caused the world's worst outbreak of cholera, with the number of suspected cases exceeding 994,751.[34] Over 2,226 people have died since the outbreak began to spread rapidly at the end of April 2017.[35][34] In 2016 the United Nations reported that Yemen is the country with the most people in need of humanitarian aid in the world with 21.2 million.[36]
I don't watch too much news so was unaware of this crisis, how about you?

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Birthday! Lindsey, Julie, Jim , Zack, Megan, Amy and Mary!  Wow!

April 8, 2019 Monday #Forgive#Readagoodbook#Hotbed

Get Faith
John chapter 8  "(Jesus said,) Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."  So, unless you are Jesus Christ - do not judge others.  Think first of your short comings and if they will be able to say to you - what about your sin .......  It is hard not to judge someone that you have seen do something wrong but, Jesus will judge them, not you - you have no position to question another's right to the love of Jesus.  And, BTW, Jesus did not judge her either but forgave her with a warning - do not sin again.  Let us work on being more forgiving.

On this day
1985  This is my most favorite year of my life.  I was pregnant with Nicole and when I think back to this year I don't think of anything but pure joy.  It was a high risk pregnancy though, because of my age and because I had a fibroid tumor in the uterus with the baby.  They watched me like a hawk and on this day I was laid up after a busy Easter weekend.  Those were the days when I would pick up a book and read it start to finish and never worry about the world around me.  It changed, I still read but not like before, other things take precedence.  Have you read a good book lately?

1985 - India filed suit against Union Carbide for the Bhopal disaster. Ok this is relevant - but this;

1985 - Phyllis Diller underwent a surgical procedure for permanent eyeliner to eliminate the need for eyelid makeup.   Seriously?  it is in the annals of history?

Yemen

Since 2011, Yemen has been in a state of political crisis starting with street protests against poverty, unemployment, corruption, and president Saleh's plan to amend Yemen's constitution and eliminate the presidential term limit, in effect making him president for life.[26] President Saleh stepped down and the powers of the presidency were transferred to Vice President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, who was formally elected president on 21 February 2012 in a one-man election. The total absence of central government during this transitional process engendered the escalation of the several clashes on-going in the country, like the armed conflict between the Houthis rebels of Ansar Allah militia and the al-Islah forces, as well as the al-Qaeda insurgency. In September 2014, the Houthis took over Sana'a with the help of the ousted president Saleh,[27][28][29] later declaring themselves in control of the country after a coup d'état; Saleh was shot dead by a sniper in Sana'a in December 2017.[30] This resulted in a new civil war and a Saudi Arabian-led military intervention aimed at restoring Hadi's government.[31] At least 56,000 civilians and combatants have been killed in armed violence in Yemen since January 2016.[32]
Only one of the hot beds of discontent in our world - and the best of us too civilized to do
anything about it.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable  Happy birthday Monna !!!

April 6, 2019 Saturday #Proof#Saved#Veterans#politics

Get Faith
John chapter 7  "Has not the scripture said that the Messiah is descended from David and comes from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?"  It occurs to me that Jesus did not go around pointing out how he fit the bill perfectly did he?  He didn't go around saying "look I did this, and this etc." like a check list to prove himself.  The pieces fell into place but it makes me wonder - how much proof do you need that he is the Messiah?

On this day
1983  Two years later, on a Sunday and my journal says "hung over, breakfast and back to bed, I read all day".  This was not random, it was a pattern.  We laugh about it now, because we made it out of that pattern.  We (most of us) did not hurt ourselves or others, or do jail time.  Our health shows little signs of the days, if we quit, which most of us did.  I was saved by the birth of my daughter at which time I stopped smoking and binge drinking.  I always worked and kept my home up but now I had someone to work for and knew, I, couldn't carry on the lifestyle and hope to raise a child that didn't mirror my behavior.  I think God had a hand in that and I thank Him.

1983 - The U.S. Veteran's Administration announced it would give free medical care for conditions traceable to radiation exposure to more than 220,000 veterans who participated in nuclear tests from 1945 to 1962.   The bill must be huge for all the veteran's damaged by war and still happening.  At least we care now.

Yemen
Yemen is a developing country[14] and the poorest country in the Middle East.[15] Under the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Yemen was described by critics as a kleptocracy.[16][17] According to the 2009 International Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International, Yemen ranked 164 out of 182 countries surveyed.[18] In the absence of strong state institutions, elite politics in Yemen constituted a de facto form of collaborative governance, where competing tribal, regional, religious, and political interests agreed to hold themselves in check through tacit acceptance of the balance it produced.[19] The informal political settlement was held together by a power-sharing deal among three men: President Saleh, who controlled the state; major general Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, who controlled the largest share of the Republic of Yemen Armed Forces; and Abdullah ibn Husayn al-Ahmar, figurehead of the Islamist al-Islah party and Saudi Arabia's chosen broker of transnational patronage payments to various political players,[20] including tribal sheikhs.[21][22][23][24] The Saudi payments have been intended to facilitate the tribes' autonomy from the Yemeni government and to give the Saudi government a mechanism with which to weigh in on Yemen's political decision-making
This is  a true political statement at its best.

John 7:31  Yet many in the crowd believed in him and were saying "When the Messiah comes, will he do more signs than this man has done?"  This was still prior to the crucifixion, but I have to wonder if those that were in Jerusalem,  those that had been with him and experienced his teaching and healing could have possibly denied that he was the Messiah. And of this group after being exposed to the beating and crucifying of our Lord, how many could not believe?  We were not there but we believe.  We believe through the determination of those that did follow and believe and spread the word of the Gospel.  Thank God for those who risked and often lost their lives so that we know of the story of our Messiah and have been saved because we believe.

On this day
1981  I have a lot of days, especially weekend days, through the 70's and early 80's that say the same thing to describe my day.  I was hung over and layed around all day.  My friends would call and ask if I wanted to do something and the answer would be no "I think I'm getting a cold" or some other lame excuse.  I drank way too much in those days and payed the price for it.  I blame that time on all the continuing illnesses I have now.  If you are my generation and skipped this, good for you!  If you are younger and still think this is a good idea - think again!  AND, if you are still doing this, oh well.

1242 - Russian troops repelled an invasion attempt by the Teutonic Knights. Frustrated with the slow eastward advance of the Teutonic Order, Alexander Nevsky stood on the shores of Lake Peipus determined to halt the German knights’ encroachment on April 5, 1242. Marching his army out onto the frozen water, the 20-year-old Nevsky scored a major victory at the Battle of the Ice — one that prevented the Germans from entering Russia, hardening the dividing line between the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches.  religious war, between two Christian churches. :(

Dharma Yemen
Yemen was the home of the Sabaeans,[8][9][10] a trading state that flourished for over a thousand years and also included parts of modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea. In 275 CE, the region came under the rule of the later Jewish-influenced Himyarite Kingdom.[11] Christianity arrived in the fourth century. Islam spread quickly in the seventh century and Yemenite troops were crucial in the expansion of the early Islamic conquests.[12]Administration of Yemen has long been notoriously difficult.[13] Several dynasties emerged from the ninth to 16th centuries, the Rasulid dynastybeing the strongest and most prosperous. The country was divided between the Ottoman and British empires in the early twentieth century. The Zaydi Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen was established after World War I in North Yemen before the creation of the Yemen Arab Republic in 1962. South Yemen remained a British protectorate known as the Aden Protectorate until 1967 when it became an independent state and later, a Marxist-Leninist state. The two Yemeni states united to form the modern republic of Yemen in 1990.  History in a nutshell.

John chapter 5  "You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf."  I do suggest to everyone to read and study the Bible - the more you read the more you understand and we all need guidance.  I love when I read from the Old Testament and realize that it is promising the coming of Christ and telling us to prepare.  This season being Lent we are reminded again to return to the Lord our God, repent and be saved.

On this day
1976  It was a Sunday and Pete and I had breakfast in my home in Birmingham.  He left to go to the East side - probably to start working on getting the boat ready for launch.  I went to Brighton for a Curt Watkins party. ????  No idea what that was.  Anybody?  I feel like it was a promotional thing like baking and spice stuff?

0896 - Formosus ended his reign as pope. Someone else I don't remember.

Isaiah chapter 49  "For the Lord has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his suffering ones."  Those of us fortunate to live in the faith feel His comfort and compassion.  It is like a warm blanket when you are cold and your grandmothers lap when you are ill.  He shares that love to us to go out and share it with those who need it.  He puts words in our mouths to share the confidence we have in our lives and resurrection.  The Lord does comfort me when I need Him and gives me the strength to move ahead and share that comfort with you.

On this day
1968  I had my taxes done at H & R Block on this day.  I have had a lot of different companies do my taxes and I have done them myself many years, but I came back to H & R Block a number of years ago and that is who did them this year.  When you think of it, it is pretty important who you trust with this, especially if you have a lot to worry about.  I don't, but, it is still important so that you don't get that letter saying you are being audited.  There is only one year that I didn't handle my own taxes and I did have trouble later on because of it.  Stick with H & R Block is my advise.

1968 - Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "mountaintop" speech just 24 hours before he was assassinated.   And, more importantly, this happened.

Dharma Yemen
In past times, the people of Dhamar were famous for bringing up horses; the city was an early center of horse-breeding in Arabia. The town is still famous in Yemen for its numerous historical mosques and schools, which are distinguished by their beautiful characteristic architecture in harmony with the colors of its volcano land.
The city of Dhamar, in the center of the Dhamar basin, is of ancient origin. It was built by the legendary Himyarite King Dhamar Ali Yahbir II, renowned for restoring the great dam of Ma’rib. Dhamar is the only town in northern Yemen, which is not surrounded by a wall or natural defensive formations; it is just a settlement on the plains. Centrally situated with good connections to the nearby governorates, the town has prospered as a Wednesday market and meeting place for tribes living nearby.
It is home to the University of Dhamar the largest university in the country.
Rosicrucians associate Dhamar with the mystical city of Damcar -- a city in Arabia described in the Fama Fraternitatis, inhabited by scholars and alchemists who studied the lost secrets of Hermes Trismegistus and Solomon, visited by Christian Rosenkreuz.
That brings up some interesting study material!!!
