1978 - I was playing racquetball on Sunday nights with Bonnie, Diane and Karen.  We played for about a year and now I never see or hear from them.  Wonder what they are doing?

0558 - The dome of the church of St. Sophia in Constantinople collapsed. It was immediately rebuilt as ordered by Justinian.  Note the date,  it is probably still there.  Some things are important.

Family
The news is out my niece Lindsey and nephew Scott are expecting.  It is a long waited event and we are so excited to see that new life in November.  Almost makes me want to wish the summer away.  In the meantime, Lindsey is enjoying the amazing time of being pregnant.  In God's hands!

1998  I mentioned a girl named Carol was staying.  I realized she was one of many girls that were hired in to run the scale.  I don't remember her and I feel bad that someone went through my life and I have no memory of her.  They were pretty hard on help there, me too but I had a stubborn streak and decided I would stick it out.  The boss eventually decided I could do both jobs.  After work I went to the tanning salon.  I only did that for a short time and mostly to feel like I was in the warm sun on the beach or boat.  After that Nicole and I went to church for catechism, I was the leader of her small group.   How does your schedule look?  Do you stack up things to do or do you tell people right away you can't because you work?

Around BC 29, Serdica was conquered by the Romans, gradually becoming the most important Roman city of the region.^[26][27] It became a municipiumduring the reign of Emperor Trajan (98–117). Serdica expanded, as turrets, protective walls, public baths, administrative and cult buildings, a civic basilica, an amphitheatre, a circus, the City Council (Boulé), a large forum, a big circus (theatre), etc. were built. Serdica was a significant midway city on the Roman road Via Militaris, connecting Singidunum and Byzantium. In the 3rd century, it became the capital of Dacia Aureliana,^[64] and when Emperor Diocletian divided the province of Dacia Aureliana into Dacia Ripensis (at the banks of the Danube) and Dacia Mediterranea, Serdica became the capital of the latter. Serdica's citizens of Thracian descent were referred to as Illyrians^[53] probably because it was at some time the capital of Eastern Illyria(Second Illyria).^[65] For future emperors Serdica was their residence form where they ruled Rome.  This city fell into the hands of a lot of different people!

Deuteronomy 6:5  "Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."  The best reason you should is that God loves you this way.  He is all in why shouldn't you be?  Our 10 for 6 Bible study group meets the first Friday of the month, which was last night.  We meet at my house and have dinner together.  We talked about how much we care for each other because of our deep faith that we share, we are a family of our own choice, with God as our head.  It is easy to find information on Bible study suggestions and then invite some friends or family over and start this practice in your life.  Try it!

1995  Nicole called to tell me that Laura was spending the night.  She didn't have to ask, she knew it would be ok with me.  When I got home from work, Craig was over also and I ordered pizza.  After dinner we all went to the school for some baseball practice.  They were 10 and I know Nicole and Laura were on a city baseball team because I helped with coaching.  What a perfect Friday night!  Pizza and 3 best friends playing some baseball together.  I was just the pitcher.

1798 - U.S. Secretary of War William McHenry ordered that the USS Constitution be made ready for sea. The frigate was launched on October 21, 1797, but had never been put to sea. I have a little knowledge of putting a wood boat in the water after it has been sitting out for a considerable time.  It must be held afloat in the water until the wood swells back up and closes the gaps or it will sink like a rock.

Sofia has been an area of continuous human habitation since at least the 8th millennium BC,^[4] but others have inhabited the area 30,000 years ago.^[53] The city has a history of nearly 7000 years and it is the second oldest city in Europe according to the city's official website and other sources, though the meaning of the claim is unclear as in the world there were hardly any cities at the time. In the context, certainly the neolithic village in Slatina, dating to the 5th–6th millennium BC, is described.^{[54][54][55][56][57][58]} However, the motto of the city is "grows, but does not age". Remains from another neolithic settlement around the National Art Gallery are traced to the 3rd–4th millennium BC, which has been the traditional centre of the city ever since and is not changed today.^[59] The earliest tribes who settled were the Thracians. In 1400 – 1300 BC. Sofia's area was populated by the Thracian tribe of Tilataei. After the Celtic invasion in 3rd century BC Tilataei were conquered by the Celtic tribe of Serdi. The Celts were assimilated by the local Thracian population during the late Hellenistic period in 2nd – 1st century BC.^[6] According to some sources, it got first an official mention in the 7th/8th century BC when the Serdi (Sardi) as a Thracian tribe established a settlement.^[15][56][60] Other sources suppose that the Serdi's Celtic origin is convincingly evidenced through linguistic and archaeological clues but that their presence is not evidenced before the 1st century BC,^[61] whereas others assume their mixed Thracian-Celtic origin or relation to the Sards. The earliest evidence of Celtic presence in the Sofia area (Pernik) can be from the 3rd century BC.^[62] Some clues lead to the conclusion that the area of the settlement was between TZUM, Sheraton Hotel and the Presidency.^[59][63]In the 500s BC, the area became part of a Thracian state union, called the Odrysian kingdom, when another Thracian tribe appeared in the town, the Odrysses. 1994  It says was a cold and rainy day.  We had settled into a regular routine of dropping off Nicole at school and I went on to work at Clancy's.  She was only 9 so one of her Grandmothers was always there after school.  Today was Grandma Luvy, they always have special names right?  The other was Grandma El. I was blessed to have the help and I believe she benefited from all the love she got and the security of knowing she was never alone.  Marty was still living with us and took her for an ice cream after dinner.  Life was good.  After a life changing event it is so important to keep your children's life as settled and secure as possible. 

1994 - Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO leader Yasser Arafat signed a historic accord on Palestinian autonomy that granted self-rule in the Gaza Strip and Jericho. I feel like this fell through.

Sofia City Province has an area of 1344 km².^[34] Sofia's development as a significant settlement owes much to its central position in the Balkans. It is situated in western Bulgaria, at the northern foot of the Vitosha mountain, in the Sofia Valley that is surrounded by the Balkan mountains to the north. The valley has an average altitude of 550 metres (1,800 ft). Unlike most European capitals, Sofia does not have any large rivers or bridges, but is surrounded by comparatively high mountains on all sides. Three mountain passes lead to the city, which have been key roads since antiquity, Vitosha being the watershed between Black and Aegean Seas. A number of low rivers cross the city, including the Vladayska and the Perlovska. The Iskar River in its upper course flows near eastern Sofia. The city is known for its 49 mineral and thermal springs. Artificial and dam lakes were built in the twentieth century. While the 1818 and 1858 earthquakes were intense and destructive, the 2012 Pernik earthquake occurred west of Sofia with a moment magnitude of 5.6 and a much lower Mercalli intensity of VI (Strong). The 2014 Aegean Sea earthquake was also noticed in the city.

Air pollution is a problem in Sofia due to its location in the Sofia valley, which is surrounded by mountains that reduce the ability of the air to self-clean. The air is polluted mostly by particulate matters and nitrogen oxides.^[35] Sofia has the most polluted air of any capital in the EU.^{[36]  Interesting, the pollution is understandable because of it being in the valley, with}

Exodus is the book we are still studying in Thursday morning Bible study.  It is amazing to me how patient and forgiving our God is.  With all the miracles that were shown, and, how God had Moses lead them out of slavery in Egypt, all they could do is complain.  How soon we forget the wonderful things that God does for us.  Every day is a gift, every healing a miracle.  His love abounds and His mercy is endless.  Try not to complain.

On this day
1991  I very often picked up Aaron after school on Friday and brought him home for the weekend.  This day he had a hockey game so we went straight there, Nicole too, and watched his game before we went home.  Our weekends were all about the kids and their activities.  I loved it.  What will you do with your weekend now that Spring is really here??

Other names given to Sofia, such as Serdonpolis (Σερδών πόλις, "City of the Serdi" in Greek) and Triaditza (Τριάδιτζα, "Trinity" in Greek), were mentioned by Byzantine Greek sources or coins. The Slavic name Sredets (Срѣдецъ), which is related to "middle" (среда, "sreda") and to the city's earliest name, first appeared on paper in an 11th-century text. The city was called Atralissa by the Arab traveller Idrisi and Strelisa, Stralitsa or Stralitsion by the Crusaders.^[29]

The name Sofia comes from the Saint Sofia Church,^[30] as opposed to the prevailing Slavic etymology among Bulgarian cities and towns. 1 John 4:13-16  "My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God."  A favorite hymn of mine lately says, "I'm desperate for you", speaking to God.  The study writer of this message says this.  "How good it is to know that the longing of our hearts for God are also met with love.  The Bible assures us that we can "know and rely on the love God has for us."  God doesn't love us because of anything we have or haven't done.  His love isn't based on our worthiness at all, but on His goodness and faithfulness.  When the world around us is unloving and unkind, we can rely on God's unchanging love as our source of hope and peace."

1988  My friends Ty and Norma had a guy in doing some work at their house.  Now that I think about it, they have had a lot of these days.  Their houses are always beautifully remodeled and decorated and I'm sure it was a pleasure spending the day there while they were at work.  We (Nicole and I)
 were available for bird sitting for them for a while also - that was more dangerous (Jack was an African Grey and only loved Norma).  Love my friends.  Take care of them, they are priceless!

Spithead is an area of the Solent and a roadstead off Gilkicker Point in Hampshire, England. It is protected from all winds, except those from the southeast.. In case you wondered like I did.

You Better Think!  That is one of the songs we dance to with Richard in the morning, we being the people in the video and me!  I made it through to another song this time!  Hey!  Don't expect to achieve greatness too quickly unless you are 20.  I'm not and count my achievements so that I feel reinforced by my accomplishments.  Don't be hard on yourself but you better think about getting that heart rate up!   You can do it!

To be one with the Spirit - you need to be baptized.  That is when the Spirit is invited in by you or the Godparents that stood up for you.  We invite the Spirit to enter and be with our lives through our life.  It is also essential to be baptized to take Holy Communion.  With that said, I can't help believe that many of the youth, possibly not baptized, that were at camps over the years and were given the bread and wine were benefited.  I pray it helped bring them to God and a desire to be baptized if they were not already.  Are you baptized?  It's important.  Be restored to the generous Spirit.

1987  Nicole was over 2 now and Mark and I started having adult - date nights with grandmas taking care of her.  On this night Mark and I went to an old watering hole, The Wishing Well, the one we actually met at and then with friends to a few other places.  What happened at one stands out to me.  A father of one of my friends was their with his girlfriend, he was still very married to my friends mother who, I knew.  Our generation actually became accustomed to this behavior and accepted it without a thought.  Not me.  I'm not a mean person, I couldn't look down on either him or her but, I couldn't put it out of my mind.  How are you with this?  To see a man flaunting another woman in front of his son/daughter when you know the mother?  This is not a gernerational thing, it has gone on forever, let's try and stop it by not accepting it, walk away, what do you think?
