Luke chapter 4 "When he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the sabbath day, as was his custom." Although there were years when I was a young adult, and did not, I have gone to the church on the Sabbath most of my life. When I had my daughter I was drawn back in because it was very important to me that my daughter was raised in the church. Turns out it was very good for me as well. Jesus went to church with family to praise and pray to not only his God, but His Father. And he read from the Old Testament book of Isaiah that they gave him reading that foretold of His coming. Wish I had been there.
On this day 2017 Was a Saturday and I was going to the Slosses for Derby Day and realized I needed a graduation card/gift for Rebecca their daughter who was graduating from college. She was also catering her parents Derby Day party that I was attending. It was special to me to congratulate her because when I first met her she was 3. I had the 3 year olds in Sunday School, the first year I went to First English. There were 12 or 14 of them and most of them still attend, when they are home with their parents. I love to see them, like the two young men that when they are ushering for communion give me that cute little smile and I am whisked back in time to when they were three and making cotton ball sheep. God is good.
1576 - The peace treaty of Chastenoy ended the fifth war of religion. Jesus first commandment - Love God and love your neighbor - where did we go wrong??? Nepal The name "Nepal" is first recorded in texts from the Vedic period of the Indian subcontinent, the era in ancient India when Hinduism was founded, the predominant religion of the country. In the middle of the first millennium BCE, Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in Lumbini in southern Nepal. Parts of northern Nepal were intertwined with the culture of Tibet. The centrally located Kathmandu Valley is intertwined with the culture of Indo-Aryans,[16] and was the seat of the prosperous Newar confederacy known as Nepal Mandala. The Himalayan branch of the ancient Silk Road was dominated by the valley's traders. The cosmopolitan region developed distinct traditional art and architecture. By the 18th century, the Gorkha Kingdom achieved the unification of Nepal. The Shah dynasty established the Kingdom of Nepaland later formed an alliance with the British Empire, under its RajputRana dynasty of premiers. The country was never colonized but served as a buffer state between Imperial China and British India.[17][18][19]Parliamentary democracy was introduced in 1951, but was twice suspended by Nepalese monarchs, in 1960 and 2005. The Nepalese Civil War in the 1990s and early 2000s resulted in the proclamation of a secularrepublicin 2008, ending the world's last Hindu monarchy.[20]Hinduism and Buddhism born in this same country. It is a beautiful country after all. Enjoy the day! Make it memorable! Happy Birthday to Barb and Erin!!

John chapter 21 "......Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you". Jesus said to him, "Feed my lambs."" He asked Peter three times and the replies were the same and the reason is the same. If you love Jesus you will love one another. Jesus just wants us to have peace and the only way we have peace in to unconditionally love one another. It sounds simple but history says otherwise.
On this day 2016 We all love our pets, right? Well this night it came into question with Nola. He was sick so he came to his 'Mama" and was sick all over my bed. Who has pets? Most of you do and would do anything to make them feel better when they are sick, right? They are a responsibility, just like a family. So I was up all night, cleaning and showering and then had to go to work at CK, the ice cream business. I was just helping to set up the office and train the staff but ended up there all day. The message here is to have the things you love very often you have to give up your time and sense of humor. But it is worth it, right?
1814 - The British attacked the American forces at Ft. Ontario, Oswego, NY. WEll they did get Canada. Nepal Nepal (/nəˈpɔːl/(listen);[12]Nepali: नेपालNepāl[neˈpal]), officially the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal (Nepali: सङ्घीय लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र नेपालSaṅghīya Lokatāntrik Gaṇatantra Nepāl),[13] is a landlocked country in South Asia. It is located mainly in the Himalayas, but also includes parts of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With an estimated population of 26.4 million, it is 48th largest country by population and 93rd largest country by area.[8][14] It borders China in the north and India in the south, east, and west while Bangladesh is located within only 27 km (17 mi) of its southeastern tip and Bhutan is separated from it by the Indian state of Sikkim. Nepal has a diverse geography, including fertile plains,[15]subalpine forested hills, and eight of the world's ten tallest mountains, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth. Kathmandu is the nation's capital and largest city. Nepal is a multiethnic nation with Nepali as the official language. This country is vertical not horizontal. look at the mountains. Enjoy the day! Make it memorable! Happy Cinco De Mayo! Happy Birthday to Nancy Q and Gail!

Luke chapter 4 "When the devil had finished every test, he departed from him until an opportune time." This was after Jesus spent 40 days in the desert being tested by the devil. That in it self is a great study theme but I looked at that last sentence with concern. Until an opportune time? What does that mean? We know he is very active in this world, you don't have to look far. The wars, the opiod crises, the heroin crisis, human trafficking and wait! there is more! Are these the opportune times he was speaking of? We are fodder for Satan, we open doors by not keeping the faith so that our armor is strong. Pray to Jesus to teach us to fight the devil where he lives, here on earth.
On this day 2015 I spent the day tying up loose ends because I was going to Toronto with Christine for a few days. I was really excited to be going on this road trip with her like the ones we had done in the 70's. Her family lived there and she needed to go to help out her brother George. My Mom was in St Mary's at this time, in a wheelchair so I couldn't take her home. Nicole was home to take care of the cat - so I had to get groceries in, take care of the banking and get an adjustment from Dr Bender because I had hurt my back doing yard work. (Not hard to do). I packed up my clothes so I would be already to take off in the morning to meet up with my old buddy in Port Huron to head up the 101! A lot of work to taking any vacation but always worth it!
1493 - Alexander VI divided non-Christian world between Spain and Portugal. I could spend a lifetime reading these stories - I wonder how this ties in with Columbus coming to America and the Pilgrims leaving Europe.
The Bhaleshwar Mahadev temple of Lord Shiva is on top of the hill. Legend says that King Prithivi Narayan Shah worshipped in the temple before conquering the valley during his unification campaign.
These look like great places to visit today. I wonder if this guy had relatives in Scotland?
Enjoy the day! Make it memorable! Happy Birthday Evelyn

Luke chapter 3 John said "I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I an not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire" Most of the people I know have baptized their children in the church. That small act not baptizing your children. can separate people from family and friends. To me (without trying to sound judgmental)if you don't it is keeping your child from the one thing in life that might truly make a difference. But in fact, if the parents can't take the child to church and stand at the font and declare their own belief the child has little chance of being in the faith. Baptism introduces the Holy Spirit to us and Christ sent the Advocate (the Holy Spirit) to remain here in this world with us. I hope that the Holy Spirit reaches all of the unbelievers and instills in them belief and faith in our God. Pray with me.
On this day 2014 I am a hugely routine person. Exercised, coffee, paper, shower and breakfast were standard daily routines and then to the computer - email, Facebook, and blog. I don't honestly know how I ever had time to work. Most of that stuff is still in my daily routine except the paper. I decided that i didn't need the newspaper anymore, but I really miss doing that crossword. It was hard enough to make me think and easy enough for me to accomplish the whole thing most days and feel good about myself. I have crossword books but instead went to words with friends on my phone. At least I'm not too old to change. Later that day Nicole and I went to the Mall and then Don came over and we went to the Cornell's for the travelers meeting, we were in Belize. More of the same, but different.
1859 - France declared war on Austria. To me that is like Michigan declaring war on Ohio. Chandragiri Nepal
Chandragiri hill is one of the four passes of Kathmandu, and so is connected with the unification of Nepal by Prithvi Narayan Shah. Before the Tribhuvan Highway was built, travelers used the historic trade route passing through Kulekhani, Chitlang, Chandragiri Pass and Thankot. King Ranajit Malla of Bhaktapur was so distressed that he was driven to compose a lament filled with regret at having trusted the Gorkhali king. According to eyewitnesses, Malla wept uncontrollably when he paused at the hilltop of Chandragiri on the valley rim for one last look at his former kingdom. From Chandragiri, the route descends south and exits the valley to continue on to India. Beautiful country!!!
Get Faith Luke chapter 3 "Even now the axe is lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." If you are not serving God, you many miss an opportunity to teach or show someone that Christ came to save them. You will miss the chance to tell them they are loved by God so that they can be saved to eternal life. Think about snatching someone from a sinkhole so that they can live a good life and love God and their neighbor. This world will benefit greatly and you will bear good fruit.
On this day 2013 Just a quiet day with Mom. We went to Achatz for lunch and then drove up to Rox and Bills for the garage sale. I look back at those days, so relaxing and nice to remember.
1798 - The black General Toussaint L’ouverture forced British troops to agree to evacuate the port of Santo Domingo.Thought you might like to see this General! Chandragiri Nepal
Chandragiri Hills is a great destination, offering the most exotic site for a day trip. If you are seeking an escape from the busy city life, then Chandragiri Hills is the perfect place to be. The place offers a pleasant experience with a pinch of thrill as seasoning. Natural beauty, cultural significance and electrifying experiences sum up the beauty of Chandragiri Hills. This is the place where endless cover of grassland curls over the hills, and the spectacular view of the Kathmandu valley take your breath away.

John chapter 17 "The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." God sent Jesus to ALL people not just those in Jerusalem or the middle east, or anywhere specific - or any type or kind of person. Anyone who hears his word and believes can enter into that never ending circle of love and worship of God. We can all have that unconditional love and share it with one another. Praise God.

2012 Wow! I'd love to have a day like this today! It was a Saturday, so I cleaned house in the morning and then changed clothes and met Waynette, Gerry and Sandy for lunch at Mike's. I ran into a lot of old boat friends while there and then dropped the girls back off and went to Kroger, worked in yard and Don came over for dinner. I wish I had the energy to do all that today! I remember it was an all around first of May great day!
1308 - King Albert was murdered by his nephew John, because he refused his share of the Habsburg lands. Chandragiri Nepal Hows that for an early morning scene!
A view of Kathmandu from Chandragiri Hill!
Enjoy the day! Make it memorable! Happy Birthday Kathy and Bob T!!

John chapter 17 "I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world." It isn't easy being a Christian. Once you have heard, and I mean really heard the Word of God, you are changed. This world is like a bus stop with interesting places to go and interesting people to see - but it isn't home. My favorite thing is when someone looks at me, smiles and says "Oh you are a Christian". The first thing I do is to look down and see if my cross is there and that is why they say that - but the real joy is when it is because of something I have said or the way I responded that labeled me a Christian. What a great label. Praise be to God.
On this day
2011 This was the beginning of a very stressful year. I had pain in my lower abdomen and for a week thought it was gas - etc. But I finally left work one day, dropped a bid off at the city and went to the doctor. He got all upset and said - you gotta go to the hospital, call someone. I said I had been at work and was fine to drive myself to the hospital. So I did. They kept me a week, with an inflammation in my colon that was infected. They wanted to do surgery but I said I would lose my job if I took that much time off work. (When you work for a construction company, the summer is the busy time.) So they put me on antibiotics and sent me home. It was the first of 4 weeks I spent in the hospital that year. But I didn't loose my job!
1250 - King Louis IX of France was ransomed for one million dollars. What are you worth? From Yemen to Chandragiri Nepal As you can see Yemen and Nepal look close on this map. In todays world we can fly but back in the day I think it would have been a treacherous road to travel. Across the Arabian Sea to India would seem to be the best choice. I would guess the pirates of Somalia would be a challenge. India might be a nice place to travel and sightsee.
Enjoy the day! Make it memorable! Happy Birthday Adam!!
