Dancing with Rita is a good start to this week.  My lower back is acting up, why? because I have been sitting too much.  After doing the warm up my back felt better and I was able to continue.  Don't sit back down if your back hurts, unless of course there is physical damage, then you need to see a doctor.

James 5:16  "The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results."  There are a number of people at my church that are earnest prayers, but this line brought two men to mind.  John and Nate, because of their presence at church, their constant involvement and knowledge of their ongoing faith, I believe are earnest righteous men.  I believe they have God's ear.  I probably do not agree with everything they believe, but that comes with generational teaching.  We have a prayer chain at church and I believe that our prayers are heard by God and have helped many people.  Do not take prayer lightly - you might need it yourself.

1983  If I hadn't kept a journal during this time I would seriously not remember a thing from this year.  I was sick, hungover and the rest of my house, Andy, Alice and Norma were too.  We went to the Grecian Table for breakfast. It was Orthodox Easter  and Mothers day.  My mom was in Gaylord and I called her, probably even sent a card.  We partied a lot during these days and had a lot of good times but it has taken a toll on our health.  Someone must have been praying for me because my life turned around.  Thank God and pray.

1541 - Hernando de Soto reached the Mississippi River. He called it Rio de Espiritu Santo. Remember this for Jeopardy.  Who changed it to Mississippi?

Busan South Korea
During the Japanese rule, Busan (known in Japanese also as Fusan) developed into a hub trading port with Japan. Busan was the only city in Korea to adopt the steam tramway before electrification was introduced in 1924.[verification needed]
During the Korean War, Busan was one of only two cities in South Korea not captured by the North Korean army within the first three months of the War. As a result, the city became a refugee camp site for Koreans during the war, along with Daegu.    History that is less than 100 years old and yet so familiar.

I got through a few sets with Jillian this morning.  Her warm up is enough on some days but I did add a couple of the circuits today.  Steady is as steady does.  Do what you can!

1 Peter 3:4  "Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and quiet spirit which is so precious to God."  This is a wonderful message to us today.  "charm of a gentle and quiet spirit..."   I try hard to keep this in mind but, an old nemesis of mine (myself) keeps popping up.  I know two people, near and dear to me that live this statement, Nicole and Kristin.  They keep my nemesis in check.  I'd like to achieve this -"She is a woman of strength and dignity, and has no fear of old age" (Proverbs 31:25)  Wish me luck.

On this day
1982  I went up to Gaylord after work to spend the weekend with Mom and Bob.  I stopped at my neighbors drug store to pick up an antibiotic.  I knew when I had bronchitis or respiratory issues this time of year and he was kind to save me the doctor visit and just gave me the meds.  When I got up north my poor mom was suffering with terrible allergies  that I never remember her having.  She had huge bags under her eyes and was miserable.  Glad I went up - we got her some allergy tabs, had lunch in town and both bought new shoes.  Problems solved.

1576 - The peace treaty of Chastenoy ended the fifth war of religion. Peace treaty to end religious war?  What is wrong with us?  See above "gentle and quiet spirit"......

Busan South Korea
From the beginning of the 15th century, the Korean government designated Busan as a trading port with the Japanese and allowed their settlement. Other Japanese settlements in Ulsan and Jinhae diminished later, but the Busan settlement, called Waegwan at the time, continued until Japan invaded Korea in 1592. After the war, diplomatic relations with the new shogunate in Japan were established in 1607, and Busan Waegwan was permitted to be reconstructed. The Japanese settlement, though relocated into Choryang later, continued to exist until Korea was exposed to modern diplomacy in 1876. In 1876, Busan became the first international port in Korea.  All change appears to come with a cost, doesn't it?

Psalm 115:1  "Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory, because of Your mercy, because of Your truth."  We all like recognition and gratitude for what we have given or done.  It can be what helps us to continue giving and doing.  We are called to give all glory and honor to God for all that we do.  Not because he needs it, he doesn't,  but because we need to remember that all we can give and all we can do is because he has given it to us or enabled us to do it. Not unto us but You God.

1981  Half of my house had burned down and my contractor Tom and I were working with the bank and the insurance company to get Tom money to start work.  The insurance company made checks out to me and the mortgage holding bank, which makes sense.  Hiring a contractor that needs money to start your work, doesn't. He literally needed the money.   Lesson in life passed on to you.

1862 - The Battle of Puebla took place. It is celebrated as Cinco de Mayo Day. Now you know!

Busan South Korea
Geochilsan-guk existed in the second and 3rd and 4th centuries as a chiefdom of Jinhan. It was absorbed by Silla and renamed Geochilsan-gun. The word Geochilsan means rough mountain, probably referring to Hwangryeongsan, located at the center of the city.
The grave goods excavated from mounded burials at Bokcheon-dong indicate that a complex chiefdom ruled by powerful individuals was present in the Busan area just as the Three Kingdoms of Korea were forming, c. AD 300–400. The mounded burials of Bokcheon-dong were built along the top of a ridge that overlooks a wide area that makes up parts of modern-day Dongnae-gu and Yeonje-gu. Archaeologists excavated more than 250 iron weapons and ingots from Burial No. 38, a wooden chamber tomb at Bokcheon-dong.  Here is a little history.

I have been sitting a lot lately, it happens.  When I woke up my lower back was sore so I opted out of weights and aerobics with Jillian and took the relaxing road to AM yoga.  I know, I take this out a lot but, honest my lower back feels better.  Get in tune with your body and what works best for you - feed it right and move it and maybe the 90's will be worth getting to.

Psalm 121:2  "My help  comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth."  It does, no question.  Yes I believe that the Lord helps those that help themselves, but I know too,  that He is the safety net beneath me and that gives me courage to do the things I know I have to do.  I also want to share what the study writer said, with a few alterations. "Thank You for my child Lord.  She is my most precious gift from You.  I look at her and see how she reflects different family members.  I pray she will have Your eyes  and learn the miraculous wonders of Your ways."  And this song "Open the eyes of my heart Lord...I want to see you.  Thank you Lord!!

1980  (As I look out the window at rain and 40 degrees today)  On this day I laid out on the patio after cleaning it up and sunned in 80 degree temps.  It was a Sunday and I decided to go find something fun to do.  I drove through the marinas looking for people working on their boats or sitting on their boats that were already in the water and visited.  I went to my Uncle Hank's and had a beer with him.  I visited with a lot of people, Sharon, Don C and Tom - bought them ice creams, at Metro I saw Lesko, Charlie and Gino, probably up to no good (RIP),  Wilma, Eva and Monique, must have been on one of their family boats, great memories of a lot of people.  Well, I got the water today.

1471 - In England, the Yorkists defeated the Landcastrians at the battle of Tewkesbury in the War of the Roses.  Where, who, what and why?  More war!  Do you see a pattern?  Why are we surprised?

Busan South Korea

Busan was the host city of the 2002 Asian Games and the APEC 2005 Korea. It was also one of the host cities for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and is a center for international conventions in Korea. On November 14, 2005, the city authorities officially announced its bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics Games.[4] After Pyeongchang's successful bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics, Busan is considering bidding to host the 2028 or 2032 Summer Olympics.[5]
Busan has Korea's largest beach and longest river, and is home to the world's largest department store, the Shinsegae Centum City.[6]  Let's go shopping at this Mall today!

I went to exercise workshops and found a site that talks about living well into your 80's and 90's.  It says rather than concentrating on losing weight you should put your effort into eating right and getting exercise.  It said you can live to 100 if you want!  I worked out my legs this morning with a sheet of exercises called dancers workshop.  No, I don't have legs like a dancer but I feel like it when I do these.  Fool yourself into feeling good it has lasting results.

Psalm 119:173 "Let Your hand  become my help, for I have chosen Your precepts."  The study writer refers to Susanna Wesley as someone who was determined to raise her children in faith.  She had 19 children, 9 lived through infancy and 3 became ministers, John, Charles and a grandson Wesley.  You might recognize the names.  If you are raising children and want them to grow up with merit and morals your best help would come from the Lord.  She lifted each of her children to the Lord everyday in prayer.  I believe the same and insisted Nicole and Aaron go to Sunday School and church every Sunday.  Aaron is Catholic and his children are all baptised and I hope go to church.  Nicole, as anyone who knows me is a better, stronger Christian than I am.  Start young. Lift them to the Lord.

1979  I had been diagnosed the day before with pleurisy by Doc Hyland.  I was told to stay in bed or be put in the hospital.  I have a history of bronchial and lung problems.  I also have a history of fast living and smoking.  There are consequences.  So, I was laid up at home for weeks.  My ex (sort of) Pete stopped by twice, my current boyfriend Dave wanted to know if I needed anything and lo and behold my ex-husband Don called to talk and was very concerned about my health.  The message here is men can be compassionate and caring, we often forget.

1568 - French forces in Florida slaughtered hundreds of Spanish. This was in war, again, we think the world is violent today?  It has always been.

Busan South Korea
Located within South Korea's largest industrial area, "The Southeast Economic Zone" (which includes Busan, Ulsan and South Gyeongsang Province), the city is the cultural, educational and economic center of the region. It is the largest portcity in South Korea and the world's fifth busiest seaport by cargo tonnage.[3] The most densely built up areas of the city are situated in a number of narrow valleys between the Nakdong River and the Suyeong River, with mountains separating most of the districts. Administratively, it is designated as a Metropolitan City. The Busan metropolitan area is divided into 15 major administrative districts and a single county.

Hebrews 11:1  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  Faith in a nutshell is believing in something you can't see, with your eye.  Like Thomas we can be doubters.  God does give us insight at times of that faith we cling to, a newborn baby, a life saving event or a beautiful sunset.  There are times when we are quiet that God whispers to our souls what we need to hear.  Listen, watch and believe for your faiths sake.

1978  Working for Quality I made a lot of calls on Art Galleries and Frame Shops around the Detroit area.  I feel like I would enjoy and be better at it now than I was then, but most places were happy to see me.  I was there to make sure the picture frame samples they had were up to date and sell them more when possible.  On this day I stopped at Adrian Art Gallery.  I have no idea where this was, anyone?

1670 - The Hudson Bay Company was founded by England's King Charles II. The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC; French: Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson), commonly referred to as The Bay (La Baie in French),[7] is a Canadian retail business group.  Still around and doing business!

Psalm 51:12  "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit."  The joy of God's salvation!  After coming through the Easter season we all are fresh on how that salvation was bought for us.  God loves us more than His Son's well being, more than all the sin we lay at His feet daily - more than the evil and sadness that live in this world.  When you think about this today - "The joy of God's salvation" be thankful and praise our God for His generosity and be joyful.

1977  I worked at Quality and called Nan to meet for lunch. (I wish we could do that today but she lives in California)  At home after work I started work on my second job HOWI, House of World ...? Pottery and Mexican imports.  Richard (a GM designer called and stopped by to visit.)  Now I want to know, why?  couldn't I have fallen for and married a GM designer?  Nope.  Two jobs most of my life.  go figure.  Word of advice here to you young women .....

1877 - U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes withdrew all Federal troops from the South, ending Reconstruction. 10 years before this sounded like a good thing.

Busan South Korea

Busan (Hangul부산Hanja釜山Korean pronunciation: [pu.san]), officially Busan Metropolitan City (부산광역시), romanized as Pusan before 2000,[nb 1] is South Korea's second most-populous city after Seoul, with a population of approximately 3.6 million. The population of the metropolitan area, including the adjacent cities of Gimhae and Yangsan, is approximately 4.6 million. The city is located on the southeastern-most tip of the Korean peninsula.  Wow!  big city, I bet a lot to learn here.
