Stretches squats and plank this morning, also a few yoga positions.  Going to the Tigers game today so I'll get some steps on my fitbit!  How are you doing with that extra walk everyday?  C'mon you can do it!

Roman's 5:20  "The more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God's abounding grace forgiving us."  If you think this is a spitting contest - you will lose.  We often feel like we have sinned ourselves too far from God to ever be received back into his arms.  We say "If I went into church the roof would cave in."  Ever heard that?  The sound of someone who thinks they are worse than God's love. Like the errant son, God welcomes, forgives and loves us, no matter what or how much we think can keep us from God.  His grace is huge!  ALL of your sins have been forgiven in Jesus Christ's death.

On this day
1988  When your three year old is sleeping on the couch and crying all day with a sore tummy and no food, it breaks your heart.  Both grandma's were checking in and even Joey, across the street, brought some of his toys over to cheer her up.  I took her to the ER and was dismissed by the doctor who said she had a little flu and an ear ache.  He patted me on the back.  Mark and Marty were off to Sarnia boat racing.  You never expect it to be more than "a little flu and an ear ache."  I see lots of Mom's posting on Facebook about sick kids and remember how you suffer when they suffer.

1988 - The judge in the Iran-Contra conspiracy case ruled that Oliver North, John Poindexter, Richard Secord and Albert Hakim had to be tried separately. Did they make a book about this? or movie?  They should.  Conspiracy and screw ups abounding!

Geography[edit]

Cairns, view of the foreshore.
The Mulgrave River running through the Goldsbrough Valley to the south of Gordonvale.
Cairns is located on the east coast of Cape York Peninsula on a coastal strip between the Coral Sea and the Great Dividing Range. The northern part of the city is located on Trinity Bay and the city centre is located on Trinity Inlet. To the south of the Trinity Inlet lies the Aboriginal community of Yarrabah. Some of the city's suburbs are located on flood plains. The Mulgrave River and Barron River flow within the greater Cairns area but not through the CBD. The city's centre foreshore is located on a mud flat.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Birthday to Phil, Austin and Nancy H!

Tone and Stretch with Richard Simmons - legs, back, shoulders, arms - all with the resistance band, followed up with a strong abs workout and a cooldown.  I did the full 45 minutes this morning!  Do what you can, but do something!

Jeremiah 17:7  " Blessed is the man (or woman) who trusts in the Lord."  You need faith to trust in the Lord.  When you have spent time learning and praying with Jesus you begin to feel confident in His ability to care for you and THEN you will begin to put your trust in Him.  My mantra lately has been Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not be faint."  It has worked for me.  Put you hope and trust in the Lord.  Learn how if you don't know.

On this day
1986 - On a rare occasion Mark and I would go to a boat race without the kids.  This day Grandma Luvy, (the kids called her) came early so we could go to Monroe for the boat race in Lake Erie.  We went out on the patrol boat with Gordon and Donna, which was always exciting.  They had a 50' Catamaran that could keep up with the raceboats.  Monroe Boat Club was small but very friendly and we always had a good time.  Marty was racing in Oingo Boingo in those days.  The day started out foggy but cleared after a while.  Great racing memory, oh and video available!

1494 - Spain and Portugal divided the new lands they had discovered between themselves. One for you, one for me.......

Cairns Australia
During World War II, the Allied Forces used Cairns as a staging base for operations in the Pacific,[14] with US Army Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force operational bases (now the airport), as well as a major military seaplane base in Trinity Inlet, and US Navy and Royal Australian Navy bases near the current wharf. Combat missions were flown out of Cairns in support of the Battle of the Coral Sea in 1942. Edmonton and White Rock south of Cairns were major military supply areas and US Paratroopers trained at Gordonvale and the Goldsborough Valley.
A Special Forces training base was established at the old "Fairview" homestead on Munro's Hill, Mooroobool. This base was officially known as the Z Experimental Station,[15] but referred to informally as "The House on the Hill".  It always appeared to me that the Aussies and Americans were two of a kind as depicted in the war movies.  What do you think?

Dancing Granny's, is growing on me.  lol  Somedays you just have to entertain yourself.  I have good intentions of taking a walk everyday, either before dinner or after dinner.  Which would be better?

Proverbs 2:10-11  "For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.  Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you."  These are some great things to have - wisdom, knowledge, discretion and understanding.  One out of four isn't bad.  We all try to be the best we can be, I think, well ok, I know some people that could work a little harder at it, including myself, but we try.  At work yesterday I had to let a lady go because it was harder for us when she was there.  She had a hearing problem so always answered the phone then handed it to us, because she couldn't hear.  She was the sweetest person in the world and told me she thought I was so smart and kind and she could sense my authority when I walked in the room.  I couldn't keep her because she made me feel good, but she did.  Discretion.  I will pray God finds something meaningful for her to do, at 66 it is hard to find work.  She lives in Detroit near downtown if you know of something.  She worked at Blue Cross in data entry for years.

1985  This is an excerpt from that day:
"Mid (night) 5 am 8am                       2 wet
Noon             4pm 8pm                  4 dirty     (feeding and diapers)
Fed Nicole   Alice's birthday - called her,  getting baby on schedule  Ma called and over w/food.  Nicole bath after 12 noon feeding"
Nicole was not a month old and I was obsessed with my new baby as is my niece Lindsey with her new baby, Hudson.  I enjoy listening to Lindsey and reliving all the glorious things that go on when you have that little life that completely changes yours.  Thank God for babies! And mothers that bring food.

1985 - The U.S. Senate authorized nonmilitary aid to the Contras. The vote authorized $38 million over two years.  Now it would be a trillion, right?

1985 - The body of Nazi war criminal Dr. Josef Mengele was located and exhumed near Sao Paolo, Brazil. Mengele was known as the "Angel of Death." Bad guy, ever read Boys of Brazil?  Interesting.

Cairns Austrailia
Cairns was founded in 1876, hastened by the need to export gold discovered on the tablelands to the west of the inlet. The site was predominantly mangrove swamps and sand ridges. Labourers gradually cleared the swamps, and the sand ridges were filled with dried mud, sawdust from local sawmills, and ballast from a quarry at Edge Hill. Debris from the construction of a railway to Herberton on the Atherton Tableland, a project which started in 1886, was also used. The railway opened up land later used for agriculture on the lowlands (sugar cane, corn, rice, bananas, pineapples), and for fruit and dairy production on the Tableland. The success of local agriculture helped establish Cairns as a port, and the creation of a harbour board in 1906 supported its economic future.[10][11] This explains how we change the earth to meet our needs.  Good or bad?

June 4, 2017 Sunday #Joy#marriage#Arnie#Yidiny

Get Faith
Psalm 4:7  "You have filled my heart with greater joy..."  I was at a beautiful wedding last night.  One of the girls that works for my friend Pat, the girl who I am covering at the office for this weekend because she got married.  Thought it was fair for her to have the day off.  It was an Ukrainian wedding, and very traditional in that everyone was played into the reception area by a small band.  Everyone spoke Ukrainian so even though I couldn't understand a word of the toasts, prayers our announcements I could sense the joy and sincerity of the event.  God understands all of the languages of the world.  I am sure He watches every wedding and special occasions and enjoys the love and joy of His people as they celebrate the life He has given us. Pray in whatever tongue you want, He will hear you.

On this day
1984  I had just gotten married in April of this year, right after Andy and Alice did in February.  I was working in the yard, planting flowers and making a home.  We had a busy life with work and boat racing and the world was a perfect place.  I remember the excitement of looking forward to a life with my new husband and the prospect of children.  He brought a son, Aaron into the marriage and I really thought I died and went to heaven.  He spent a lot of time with us and I loved it.  I hope Lililya and Vasyl have a wonderful life together to extend the family and the culture they live in.

1984 - For the first time in 32 years, Arnold Palmer failed to make the cut for the U.S. Open golf tournament. Wow!  this is huge, he was a great name in golf.

Cairns Australia
Prior to British settlement, the Cairns area was inhabited by the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji people,[8] who still claim their Native Title rights.[9] The area is known in the local Yidiny language as Gimuy.[8]
In 1770, James Cook mapped the future site of Cairns, naming it Trinity Bay. Closer investigation by several official expeditions 100 years later established its potential for development into a port.  Oh, the language of Yidiny the original people of this area.

June 3, 2017 Saturday #fitbit#bestmeditationever#Lodgememories#Kaenz

Get Fit
I am a very organized, by the book person.  Ok, I'm OCD.  It is hard for me to have changes in my regular routine and going to work upsets the plan.  I will be on my feet all day and then come home to clean house and then on to a wedding reception where maybe I will dance.  So I'm planning on getting some exercise, we will see how that works out in steps on my fitbit. Where to put a fitbit on my dress?

Psalm 17:15  "And I - in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness."  The study writer talks about having time with God, praying and meditating.  Last night a group of  us at church, referred to as 6 for 4, then changed to 8 for 4 and now is 8 for 8.  Eight people for 8 Bible studies.  I love this group, they are serious about their relationship with God.  But, we all confessed to having difficulty meditating.  John falls asleep and others said yes that happens to them also.  I said I have too many things going on in my head and have a hard time clearing it, they all, also agreed to the same problem.  I'm looking forward to what I think this verse from Psalm promises.  I don't need to see God's face, I feel unworthy of that, but to be in His presence in the next life will be the best prayer and meditation time ever.

On this day
1983  My friend Ty was living here, as he was on this day in 1982, along with Norma one of my best friends.  Apparently everyone else had gone to work so Ty and I went to Blue Gables for breakfast.  If you are around here and remember that was at 9 Mile and Harper.  It was a great breakfast place and excellent dinner place with a bar as well.  After we ate I went to the DDS and on to work andTy went on to work.  We are all still the best of friends, although we all got married in 1984.

1539 - Hernando De Soto claimed Florida for Spain. Now claimed by senior citizens.

Cairns Austraila
Cairns (/ˈkænz/[6]) is a major city on the east coast of Far North Queensland in Australia. The city is the 5th-most-populous in Queensland and ranks 14th overall in Australia.
Cairns was founded in 1876 and named after William Wellington CairnsGovernor of Queensland from 1875 to 1877. It was formed to serve miners heading for the Hodgkinson River goldfield, but declined when an easier route was discovered from Port Douglas. It later developed into a railhead and major port for exporting sugar cane, gold and other metals, minerals and agricultural products from surrounding coastal areas and the Atherton Tableland region.
The estimated residential population of the Cairns urban area in 2015 was 147,993.[1] Based on 2015 data, the associated local government area has experienced an average annual growth rate of 2.3% over the last 10 years.[7] Cairns is a popular tourist destination because of its tropical climate and access to the Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.  Note the pronunciation of the name Australian style!

Luke 11:1  "Lord, teach us to pray."  This is the lead in to the Lord's Prayer that all Christians know by heart.  You don't have to know it though, all of your prayer spoken silently or aloud are heard by God.  Our prayers can be spontaneous and, often are, a cry for help or a loud "Thank God".  Jesus tells us to mention His name and our prayers will be heard, like an instant link - a better connection.  I have heard that people who have lost their memory can still recite the Lord's Prayer, it is kept in the soul not the brain.  Prayer is important for all of your times of day - it can be a habit, a good one.

On this day
1981  Lawn mowers have been the scourge of my life.  On this day I stopped at my brothers house to pick up his lawn mower and took it home, cut my lawn and took it back.  I noted that I had to have help getting it in and out of the car - but apparently got the job done.  I don't even own a lawn mower anymore - I have lawn service, so much better no matter the cost.  They even cut my dirt yesterday. ;)

1774 - The Quartering Act, which required American colonists to allow British soldiers into their houses, was reenacted.  So, they had to open their homes to soldiers, rent free while we were at war with them.  Not the first time in history this happened.

I like to spoil myself on Thursdays, after working in the yard all week, I deserve it.  I did do a little Pilates today to make sure the back stays strong and the abs keep supporting the back.  Do you ever see the ads where they ask people how they managed to live to 100?  Answers are, ice cream everyday, one cigar a week, a glass of wine, a walk with my dog.  Take note!

Get Faith
Psalm 27:1  "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?"  We are all afraid to die.  We fear someone will take our life or make our lives horrible by taking things from us.  That is the norm for this life because it is a risky life we have here.  When you have faith in God and let Him light your days with his knowledge and presence you have something no one can take away from you.  It is an eternal gift that you fear not losing.  You can be strong and not afraid of life.

On this day
1980  - It took me a while to figure this entry in my journal out.  It said Dad put a new ceiling in the family room.  He did a lot of work on this house for me.  Mom and Dad stayed with me a while till there house in Gaylord that was being built, could be lived in.  Originally this house had a room that was between the utility room and the garage.  It was an add on that was probably meant  to be a seasonal summer room.  He decided it needed a new tile ceiling and did it.  I would never have remembered his goodness on this because the following year the garage and that room burned to the ground.  The gift is gone, but thanks to my journal, not forgotten.  He was a good man.  RIP Bob!

1980 - Cable News Network (CNN) made its debut as the first all-news station. I like to be informed but not to the point of watching continous news.  Do you watch it?  Remember this for Jeopardy.

Cairns Australia
The gateway to Queensland’s tropical north, Cairns is a stylish city, which is also renowned for its relaxed, tropical climate and laid back ambience.
Leap from Cairns into the World Heritage wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Relax in the resorts of Port Douglas and Mission Beach or on Lizard Island. Take the old railway to Kuranda, or follow the Great Tropical Drive to white water rivers and the Atherton Tablelands. Head north to Cape Tribulation or take the Savannah Way for an outback journey.  This sounds like a great vacation area!  Let's enjoy!
Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy birthday Kathy D!
