In a reorganizing state with workouts.  I only have my DVDs and my player hooked up to the TV doesn't work.  I am left with playing them on my laptop, which is also a struggle for me, but I got it this morning and did AM Yoga.  Nicole also got me a new 7 phone.  I am in technology hell this week. But I love my new phone!

Psalm 119:76-77  "Now let your unfailing love comfort me, just as you promised me, your servant.  Surround me with your tender mercies so I may live, for your law is my delight."  I understand this to remind us of the comfort of knowing the rules and the rewards for keeping them.  For our own purposes we are better when we don't push the limits of the law, which is designed to keep us safe.  This comes from our Father in heaven that sets the example for our parents and other law enforcers.  As we have seen in the paper and on the news many people don't have that basic fear of breaking the rules and the accompanying punishment.  God help those who need to be reminded.

On this day
1976  Pete and I went to the marina, probably to clean off the boat before it was pulled out for the winter.  We stopped by his parents house after that.  I was very fond of them.  Eric was German and Tatjiana was Estonian (Russian).  There house was very European in decor and in the way they lived and ate.  I enjoyed their customs and remembered after reading this that my cousin adopted a young boy from Russia and brought him here and then deserted him.  Think I will check with Konstantine and see how he is doing.

1917 - Russia's Bolshevik Revolution took place. The provisional government of Alexander Kerensky was overthrown by forces led by Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. This might have been a reason that Tatjiana and her mother Xana had to leave Estonia as they were hierarchy.  They might have left in the early 1940's after communism spread.  Pete was born in Czechoslovakia as they made their escape.

Hudson Bay Canada

History[edit]

Canada, Routes of Explorers, 1497 to 1905
English explorers and colonists named Hudson Bay after Sir Henry Hudson who explored the bay beginning August 2, 1610 on his ship Discovery.[13]:170On his fourth voyage to North America, Hudson worked his way around Greenland's west coast and into the bay, mapping much of its eastern coast. Discovery became trapped in the ice over the winter, and the crew survived onshore at the southern tip of James Bay. When the ice cleared in the spring, Hudson wanted to explore the rest of the area, but the crew mutinied on June 22, 1611. They left Hudson and others adrift in a small boat. No one knows the fate of Hudson or the crew members stranded with him, but historians see no evidence that they survived for long afterwards.[13]:185

wow!  mutiny is right!

Psalm 106:1  "Praise the Lord! O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: for His steadfast love endures for ever!"  Forever is a long time.  Since before the earth was formed and until it is no longer here - way past the possible 100 years we can live.  Why wouldn't you want to thank Him and admit that He is the best thing for our life and He offers it forever!.  Praise the Lord!

On This day
1975  I didn't note this in my journal but I think it was Pete's 30th birthday.  Of this year and our time together I only think of us as being young, I was 2 years younger.  I recall my 25th birthday bothering me, like a 1/4 of a century type thing.  Now I think of them as accomplishments!  What age was a milestone for you?  Which year did you feel like an old person?  It is only one day on a long trail, right?

1975 - King Hassan II of Morocco launches the Green March, a mass migration of 300,000 unarmed Moroccans, that march into the nation of Western Sahara. ?  The Green March was a strategic mass demonstration in November 1975, coordinated by the Moroccan government, to force Spain to hand over the disputed, autonomous semi-metropolitan province of Spanish Sahara to Morocco. Started well and escalated into war.

Hudson Bay Canada
Hudson Bay encompasses 1,230,000 km2 (470,000 sq mi), making it the second-largest water body using the term "bay" in the world (after the Bay of Bengal). The bay is relatively shallow and is considered an epicontinental sea, with an average depth of about 100 m (330 ft) (compared to 2,600 m (8,500 ft) in the Bay of Bengal). It is about 1,370 km (850 mi) long and 1,050 km (650 mi) wide.[4] On the east it is connected with the Atlantic Ocean by Hudson Strait; on the north, with the Arctic Ocean by Foxe Basin (which is not considered part of the bay), and Fury and Hecla Strait. Geographic coordinates: 78° to 95° W, 51° to 70° N.
Hudson Bay is often considered part of the Arctic Ocean. For example, the International Hydrographic Organization (in its current unapproved working edition only[5] of Limits of Oceans and Seas) defines the Hudson Bay, with its outlet extending from 62.5 to 66.5 degrees north (just a few miles south of the Arctic Circle) as being part of the Arctic Ocean, specifically "Arctic Ocean Subdivision 9.11." Other authorities include it, in part because of its greater water budget connection, with the Atlantic Ocean.[6][7][8][9][10]
Some sources describe Hudson Bay as a marginal sea of the Atlantic Ocean,[11] or the Arctic Ocean.[12]

Isaiah 40:31  "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not be faint."  Do you hope in the Lord?  This has been my verse this year.  I healed pretty quickly after lung cancer surgery, and then respiratory flu 2 months later.  I have regained my strength and and can walk a good distance.  I will keep hoping in the Lord as reminded by the Pastor this morning in his sermon.

On this day
1974  I worked then went home and cleaned house, went to Kmart, called Mom and Adele, Pete called and after that I washed my hair.  I can't imagine doing all those things after working all day now.  (Not that I work anymore)  Not sure I could accomplish all that in one day - not working.  AND I noticed that back in those days I always added that I washed my hair. If you are my age and remember having long hair in those days you will know what I am talking about.  The washing part wasn't all that different than today, but it is what came after that.  We would roll our wet hair up on brush rollers, or sponge rollers or some type of roller, then we would sit under a hair dryer for an hour that was like a hood or had an air hose attached to a shower cap looking thing.  There you sat.  Somedays you might have set your hair and then slept on it, with the rollers in, yep!  If this process was prior to going out, you had to spend at least a half hour doing the comb out and styling.  It was hugely time consuming. On this day, as I wasn't going out I probably slept on them, ouch!

1974 - Ella T. Grasso was elected governor of Connecticut. She was the first woman in the U.S. to win a governorship without succeeding her husband. Wow!  What really amazes me is that some women inherited the job from their husband?!?  Really?  Without a vote?  Seriously!?

Hudson Bay Canada
File:Hudson bay sunset Canada.jpgThe Eastern Cree name for Hudson and James Bay is Wînipekw (Southern dialect) or Wînipâkw (Northern dialect), meaning muddy or brackish water. Lake Winnipeg is similarly named by the local Cree, as is the location for the city of Winnipeg.  This is more than a bay it is more like an inland sea!

Philippians 4:19  "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."  Recently I was laboring at my computer over my latest quest, a children's musical.  I was wondering what today's youth talk about, their style of communication, what songs are meaningful to them.  I am out of the loop and thinking of finding some youth to help me out when I got a text message from the church youth leader asking if I could take her youth group this next week.  How is that for a quick response to prayer?

On this day
2016  We were waiting for the arrival of the first baby of the next generation of my McGregor/Pode descendants.  My niece and her husband were at the finish line and ready to hold that little boy in their arms.  Lindsey and Scott had tried and waited for so long and the apprehension and excitement were physically noticeable.  Now we are getting close to that first birthday!  God, again, answers prayers!

1842 - Abraham Lincoln married Mary Todd in Springfield, IL. Happy anniversary to the Lincolns!

Hudson Bay Canada

Hudson Bay - Wikipedia Hudson Bay (Inuktitut: Kangiqsualuk ilua,[2] French: baie d'Hudson) (sometimes called Hudson's Bay, usually historically) is a large body of saltwater in northeastern Canada with a surface area of 1,230,000 km2 (470,000 sq mi). It drains a very large area, about 3,861,400 km2(1,490,900 sq mi),[3] that includes parts of Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, most of Manitoba, and southeastern Nunavut, and parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana. Hudson Bay's southern arm is called James Bay.

Luke 6:38  "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.  For the measure you give will be the measure you get back."  This is absolutely true.  Goodness, those things you give or do for someone else certainly returns to you.  What experience have you had with this?

On this day
2015  I had been neighbors with Al across the street for near 40 years.  Her family did not spend a lot of time with her, she had a sister close by that she went out to dinner with and played cards with but, when something was going on at her house - I was the one who saw it.  You don't necessarily see your neighbors coming and going, etc next door, but across the street, yes.  I made a point of watching out for her, and she was getting dementia.  On this day I noticed the girl (38) that lived with her mother occasionally, next door, standing on Al's porch.  I saw Al talk to her and then go into the house and come back and hand her something.  Another time I had seen her drive the girl somewhere.  Alex was a heroin addict, as was her sister Colleen that had died of an OD before this.  This time I ran out of the house and confronted Alex.  I told her that she was not to take advantage of Al and her generous attitude AND she was never to ask for a ride ANYWHERE.  I spoke to Al about it later but she had no memory of the incident.  My threat with Alex worked, at least I think it did.  Al has gone to live with her daughter.  I don't see her or talk to her because it upsets her to see me, she wants to come home.  It upsets me too.

1507 - Leonardo DaVinci was commissioned by the husband of Lisa Gherardini to paint her. The work is known as the Mona Lisa. Wow 1507, more than 500 years ago.

Hebrews 11:1  "New faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  My faith is renewed daily.  Today when I first opened the hymn book and saw "How Great Thou Art", my favorite hymn, or certainly one of my favorites, I knew it would be a good day.  At Bible study we had a great conversation about Baptism and Holy Communion, the two sacraments of the Lutheran Church.  The Spirit was at the study.  And now this reminder that our faith and hope can always be renewed.  I am blessed, you can be too.  Read the Bible, find a study group and attend services - get a workout for your faith!  Practice! Practice!

On this day
2012  I had only been retired not even 2 months but my life was as busy as I would have expected.  I took Mom to the eye doctor for pre op for her cataract surgery.  She was happy to have her vision back and I'm so glad we did it.  Nicole and I went to Dee Lynch's house and worked on those sports cards in the afternoon.  That was an unrealized dream.  We had such high hopes but not a lot of time or energy for it.  They were sold for a song a couple years ago.  The only thing I retired from was stress and that's ok.

1721 - Peter the Great (Peter I), ruler of Russia, changed his title to emperor. What was it before?  King, Sir, Mister?  His Highness Peter the Great?

John 10:4  "When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice"  It is true, I know my Saviours voice.  I talk to Him a lot so I'm sure He knows my voice as well.  The study writer mentioned knowing your child's voice and them knowing yours, but I recall many times when I have been in a crowd and a child yells "Mom" and I'm looking even though my child is not with me.  We can hear a different voice giving us advice but we need to think about who that voice is.  I know the devil himself is in my ear sometime.

On this day
2010  Mom had been in the hospital for a few days and my brother Andy was down to sit with her while I was at work.  My friend Don stopped up to the hospital to see Mom and then he, Andy and I went to Pepperoni Grill for dinner.  Over the years this was a repeat performance, sometime it was Mom, sometimes Andy and occasionally it was me.  It is what we do for one another and happens more often as we age.  I think it's called life.  Be there for those you care for.

1604 - "Othello," the tragedy by William Shakespeare, was first presented at Whitehall Palace in London.  I haven't seen a lot but I have seen this.
