December 3, 2014 Wednesday

Marguerite, a prima ballerina and I did some ballet this morning.  This is about strengthening legs and backs through bends, lifts, and kicks, no toe balancing.

Psalm 73 - this is about measuring yourself against someone else and forgetting that it is best to be on God's side - not yours or your neighbor's.  The important thing is to know what you should be doing for God.

On this day;
1983 - Mom's husband Bob's funeral service up in Gaylord.  A lot of the family was up and we all went back to the house afterward.  Needless to say, it was a wake.  Bob would have loved to have been there, more then just in spirit.  So many kind people contributed food and help.  I was angry with Bob, why couldn't he have been more careful on that tractor?  He had ran one most of his life.  It was too soon for him to go he was only 61.

1983 - 3-foot-high concrete barriers were installed at two White House entrances. this happened the same day.  I wonder if the barriers are still there?

Parenting - As families grow up, kids marry and parents divorce and remarry - life becomes more complex.  Here come the holidays and your married son has his wife's mom and dad who are also remarried (2 homes) and his family whose parents are divorced (2 homes) plus your own home and friends, etc.  How to make that choice?  It calls for a lot of understanding, planning and tongue biting.  Hope you find a happy way to celebrate Christmas.  Remember the reason for the holiday.  I have heard some young people say they are having it at their own house and all are welcome, if they choose not to come..oh well.

Gawlior India - what else can we find?

Origin of name[edit]

According to local tradition, Gwalior owes its name to a sage of former times. Suraj Sen, a prince of the Sikarwar Rajput clan of the eighth century, is said to have lost his way in the forest. On a secluded hill, he met an old man, the sage Gwalipa, whose influence almost took him by surprise. Upon asking the sage for some drinking water, he was led to a pond, where the waters not only quenched his thirst but cured him of leprosy. Out of gratitude, the prince wished to offer the sage something in return, and the sage asked him to build a wall on the hill to protect the other sages from wild animals which often disturbed their yajnas (or pujas). Suraj Sen later built a palace inside the fort, which was named "Gwalior" after the sage, and eventually the city that grew around the fort took the same name.  Interesting to find out where these names come from.  Usually after a person of importance.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Birthday John!
