March 28, 2014 Friday

Some days are interrupted by life.  Had to spend the day in the ER with my mom.  She had terrible pain in her leg.  Came home with pain medication.  They are thinking arthritis in her hip;

Pilates weight loss -  This is one of my favorite Pilate workouts.  I always feel strong and confident in my posture afterwards.

Psalm 130 - This about continuing to pray even if it feels like nothing is working.  God is always there, always listens and answers in His time, not ours.   Have you ever started out praying for one thing and changed the outcome of your prayer wish, maybe a few times?  You start out praying for a complete recovery, then settle for a lesser level of health, then just comfort and then possibly complete recovery again?  God knows how it will go start to finish, and what the final answer is.

On this day -
1854 - The Crimean War began with Britain and France declaring war on Russia.. Some things don't change.
1990 - It was Maundy Thursday, a rather solemn experience in church, The Last Supper.  We were attending the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church at the time, but all congregations adapt to what needs to be done, when it needs to be done.  After leaving the sanctuary in silence, while Jesus went to Gethsemane for prayers and betrayal, we went down to the fellowship hall to stuff plastic Easter eggs with jelly beans for the egg hunt on Saturday.  Well, it was better then doing it on Good Friday.

Parenting - Congregations are social groups, built around a communal interest.  It is a lot like family, some you like, some, not so much, but they are family.  Churches need that fellowship and children grow to be involved Christians, when they are included in the life and family of a church.  Nicole probably still remembers that everyone passed the black jelly beans to Pastor Reckling because they were his favorites.

Book Club - Blood and Beauty  I am aghast at the revelations of this book!  Oh the horror.
