On this day
1979 - My unsteady, Pete and I still saw each other occasionally but he went home after going to the Irish Festival Downtown Detroit the night before. I loved those international events - the culture, food and music were great. But on this day, Sunday, my buddy Doc called and said he was going to cruise down the Detroit River on his boat and did I want to go. I never turned down a boat ride and we stopped to eat at Sinbad's for dinner! Nice weekend!

And then there is the issue of the little boy in the gorilla compound. The mom should have been paying attention, the child should not have climbed over or under the barrier and their were no super heroes to make a save. The gorilla might not have hurt the child but, it might have. They did what they had to do, sad but true. Accidents happen and this was a tragic one, but a child was saved.
