Get Faith
Acts 17   "And Paul went in, (the synagogue) as was his custom, and on three sabbath day argued with them from the scriptures, explaining and proving it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead and saying, "This is the Messiah, Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you.""  The Jews did not believe easily, but Paul having been a Jew, I'm sure pressed harder to save his fellow Jews.  But the women were happy to hear the good news and believed.  Not surprising that people who had always been second best in society, hardly mentioned and treated less the others would find this good news a welcome respite in their lives.

On this day
1975  These were traumatic days.  My brother Mark was living with me in Birmingham. When I got home from work Mark was out but there was a girl, Cindy, at my house and after talking to her I realized she was a runaway.  Mark had a knack for finding others in trouble.  I was 25 which made Mark 15.  I was too young to handle the complex problems he had but I sure tried.  Mom was recently remarried and her new husband had no children of his own and no skills for handling Mark.  Like I said it was traumatic.  If you have not experienced these times, count yourself among the lucky.

1829 - William Burt patented the typographer, which was the first typewriter. I'm much better typing on the computer than I ever was on a typewriter!

Escalante Philippines
The Philippines is an officially secular state, although Christianity is the dominant faith.[565] Section 5 of the Bill of Rights (Article III of the constitution) states "No law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship, without discrimination or preference, shall forever be allowed. No religious test shall be required for the exercise of civil or political rights."[329]
Census data from 2010 found that about 80.58% of the population professed Catholicism.[3] Around 37% regularly attend Mass and 29% identify as very religious.[566][567] The Philippine Independent Church is a notable independent Catholic denomination.[568][569][570]
Protestants were 10.8%[571] of the total population, mostly endorsing evangelical Protestant denominations that were introduced by American missionaries at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, they are heavily concentrated in Northern Luzon and Southern Mindanao.[572][573] Iglesia ni Cristois a notable Unitarian and Restorationist denomination in the Philippines and is mostly concentrated in Central Luzon.[574][575]
The historical Paoay Church in Ilocos Norte. Declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the Philippine government in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the collective group of Baroque Churches of the Philippines in 1993.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy birthday Jason and Scott M.
