Get Faith
2 Corinthians chapter 10  "Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards; for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds."  God's power is unmeasured on this earth.  We can't invent anything that would destroy God, although there are those who try.  Our power is in our faith and in the knowledge that we belong to Christ.  Our weapons are love and understanding, justice and righteousness, kindness and caring and an intense love to share the story of Jesus.  They can never take that away from us.  I love to tell the story.

On this day
2018  This was a sad day because the evergreen in my front yard, that had been maybe 10 feet tall when I bought this house had in a month turned brown and dropped all its needles.  I was heartbroken but it had to come down today.  It had grown up like Nicole except it had a definite easterly lean to it that worried my neighbor.  It was the tree that Nicole and I decided to decorate one year, by tying a string tied to the Christmas lights and then anchored to a Nerf ball that Nicole expertly lofted over the top of the tree to set the lights at the top and then for an hour we went around and around, attaching more lights as we went till we reached the bottom and attempted to plug in the tree.  We had the wrong end at the bottom.  Yes, we did undo and redo it.  It was also the tree the kids would climb and get all sappy from when they were little.  I still miss it, the yard looks way different.

1839 - Hong Kong was taken by the British in a war with China. Hard to believe anyone could take anything from China.

Australia
Language[edit]
C. J. Dennis, poetic humorist of Australian English
Although Australia has no official language, it is largely monolingual with English being the de facto national languageAustralian English is a major variety of the language which is immediately distinguishable from BritishAmerican, and other national dialects by virtue of its unique accents, pronunciations, idioms and vocabulary, although its spelling more closely reflects British versions rather than American. According to the 2011 census, English is the only language spoken in the home for around 80% of the population. The next most common languages spoken at home are Mandarin (1.7%), Italian (1.5%), and Arabic (1.4%); almost all migrants speak some English.[22] Australia has a sign language known as Auslan, which in 2004 was the main language of about 6,500 deaf people.[23]
It is believed that there were between 200 and 300 Australian Aboriginal languages at the time of first European contact, but only about 70 of these have survived and all but 20 are now endangered. An indigenous language is the main language for 0.25% of the population.[24]

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!! Happy birthday John Michael
