Get Faith
Revelation chapter 10  "And I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire."   That doesn't sound too surprising to us after watching the amazing movies that are created in Hollywood these days, but can you imagine John?  back in the day when this happened?  Maybe someone in Hollywood read their Bible.  Angels are not always depicted in the Bible like the old artists portrayed them.  The blond muscular, pure white clothes and glowing face is not what it says.  Some angels were not differentiated from humans, but known to be heavenly visitors like the ones Abraham saw.  But the angels that appeared most often were frightening ie - in the nativity story.  An angel of the Lord appeared to them (shepherds), and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified." But in John's case, he knew, he was witnessing the heavens opening up to him so he could see into the future.  We may be unimpressed when we get there, the movies have ruined us.  LOL

On this day
1987  It was a Monday and then as now - laundry day.  I had a two year old so, smaller but many more clothes than now.  And it says I ironed - my ironing board hasn't been out and used in years.  I will sometime put a towel on the kitchen counter to touch up a collar but that's about it.  Times change don't they?  Mark came home for lunch a somewhat rare occasion, but boat season was over.  It also says my Mom stopped over after work.  She had taken on  part time work at Harper Sports in the office.  They were friends of my Uncle Hank's, his neighbor actually.  Mom had always been a bookkeeper (well she said accountant) as was I.    I even fit a Sunday School meeting in at church in the evening.  I didn't work but I was always busy working.

1765 - Frederick County, MD, repudiated the British Stamp Act.  They still celebrate this day in Maryland - the day they said NO to British troops in their state!

Itagui Colombia
Alonso de Ojeda (who had sailed with Columbus) reached the Guajira Peninsula in 1499.[26][27] Spanish explorers, led by Rodrigo de Bastidas, made the first exploration of the Caribbean coast in 1500.[28] Christopher Columbus navigated near the Caribbean in 1502.[29] In 1508, Vasco Núñez de Balboa accompanied an expedition to the territory through the region of Gulf of Urabá and they founded the town of Santa María la Antigua del Darién in 1510, the first stable settlement on the continent. [Note 2][30]  Here come the Europeans!

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Birthday Edna!!
