Get Fit
I did a little ballet this morning, still after 10 or so years looking for those dancers legs.  Never give up!  Entertain your inner ballerina!

Get Faith
Matthew 8: 28-34  This is the story of Jesus talking to the demons that were living in two men.  Sounds like a story for this time of year doesn't it?  It gets worse.  He drove them into a herd of pigs that were there and the pigs (obviously smarter than the two men) threw themselves into the sea and drowned.  The people in the area asked Jesus to leave.  I see a town of people that preferred to live with one evil rather than lose their wealth.  How do you interpret this story?

On this day
2000  Nicole, Mom, Craig and I went up to where the Homecoming parade was going by from Southlake.  Nicole and Craig were sophomores then and we went to the football game after the parade.  After the game Nicole, Craig and I went to the school to decorate the gym for the dance.  (I was always involved in school activities so they couldn't ditch me.)

1848 - The steamboat SS California left New York Harbor for San Francisco via Cape Horn. The steamboat service arrived on February 28, 1849. The trip took 4 months and 21 days. That was a long cruise, I wonder how they got that much time off work.

Parenting
With the above memory I recall that Nicole's friend Laura was on the homecoming court.  Her two older sisters had been so I guess it was a family tradition.  And Laura was beautiful, but wasn't chosen for queen.  Looking back now I can assure you she didn't mind.  After high school she became who she really was - Lawrence.  I say, go for it, embrace the moment but ultimately be who you are.

Book Club - The Other Irish by Karen McCarthy
Still going through the political heritage of this group.

Jekabpils Latvia -

Nowadays

Today Jekabpils is an industrially developing town. It`s location on the highway Riga-Daugavpils-Belarusian and on the railway line between Latvia and Ukraine, Poland and Russia increases economical potential a lot. Not all factories survived post Soviet Union times and present economical crisis. However, today there are operating several big companies that are known not just domestically, but also behind the board of Latvia.

As an old historical town, Jekabpils preserved many historical, cultural and natural sites. Krustpils palace complex, Old Town Sqaure, Jekabpils History museum and its outdoor section, the 19th century buildings in the Brivibas street, the longest street of the town. Today the town owns eleven churches, that are built in different centuries since 1618 and today serves for seven different Churches. The ones that are worth visiting are: Krustpils St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and monastery, Holy Spirit Orthodox Church, Krustpils Lutheran Church and St. Virgin Mary's birth the Roman Catholic Church. In the outskirts of the town visitors can find many different ways to spend their time in nature. Snaking Daugava River and surrounding Viesite, Sauka and few more lakes provides a perfect camping and relaxation on the banks and inside of the waters. Fishing, hunting, horseback riding, walks on the natural trails, Forest Park and mounds – these are an inherent attractions of Jekabpils and its district. In Jekabpils district, Struve Park, tourists can visit one of the elements of UNESCO object - Struve astronomical point. Tourists here are also welcome to play paintball, tennis, ride kartings and have a nice relaxation in water recreation centre. Either you will decide to stop in Jekabpils for cup of coffee; either to spend here a few days, you will be glad afterwards that you have stopped at this historic progressing town.  This is a great place to visit.!

Enjoy the Day Make it Memorable!!  Happy Birthday to Diane and Aimee
