Lied about yesterday, did the Abs of Steel today.
2 Corinthians - Now is the time to enter the door of salvation. We are reconciled to God through Jesus the Christ and are invited in. The door is open to those who believe. There will come a time when it will not be open anymore. Hurry up!
On this day;
1986 - Nicole woke up vomiting. She wasn't a year old, so in the midst of worrying about her, I passed out. Mom came over to take care of Nicole. Thank God for Mom's!
1876 - All Native American Indians were ordered to move into reservations. Who did the American Government think they/we were? Have we learned anything? I hope so.
Parenting - Been seeing a lot of Mom's (it seems it still always falls to moms) taking care of sick children on media. It is that time of year. You are blessed if when you come down sick at the same time - your mom or mother in law step in and carry on. Hope that husbands help more often now, since woman work too.
Ha Bhutan -
Pack up we are moving, I will let you know where tomorrow.

Mark 14 32-42 Gethsemane - Where Jesus went to pray facing impending doom. His friends couldn't help him, he wouldn't let them anyway, God wouldn't help him because it was what he was born to do. Intense prayer knowing it was useless. How must He have felt? We pray, for big and little reasons, but none of us have ever had to pray for that reason.
On this day;
1985 - My brother Mark was in ICU in Petosky. He had moved up to Gaylord with Mom after her husband, Bob died. Mark was a type 1 juvenile diabetic and his health was going down hill. If I knew then what I know now. They did get him stablilized and he went back to Mom's till the next time.
1889 - Rudolph, crown prince of Austria, and his 17-year-old mistress, Baroness Marie Vetsera, were found shot in his hunting lodge at Mayerling, near Vienna. I wonder if they knew who done it?
Parenting - In writing this book of mine I'm finding a lot of topics for this point.

“Great stay at the Taj Tashi”
Lovely property which has an old world charm to it. The Room with its wooden flooring and traditional architecture was just too beautiful.
Great staff who provide prompt service. I was feeling very cold on my first day there but the staff went out of their way to get me a heater in my room. I tried their in-house dining a couple of times, and the food was very good.
All in all I would definitely be staying at the Taj Tashi each time I visit Thimphu.

Did a little ballet with the ballerina this morning.
Psalm 121 - "Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth." Good to remember, I have had a lot of help and guidance. I'm so glad to have this faith to take into my future years.
On this day;
1982 - I got a call from my girlfriend Gail. We were both friends with Vicki, who was a scatter brained bleach blond that lived in a state of confusion. She was a pretty girl but her looks were fading even though she was only around 30. She was also an old girlfriend of my friend Ty. He had gone all out to help her, finding her jobs, paying her rent, setting her up with college classes and encouraging her. He took it hard on this day when she overdosed. Sad. Sometime there is nothing you can do if they don't want to help themselves.
1886 - The first successful petrol-driven motorcar, built by Karl Benz, was patented. I always thought an American was first, and is this the Benz of Mercedes Benz?
Parenting - There have been a lot of people on TV today, talking about children and obesity. I had a friend when I was a child that was quite chunky, both her and her sister. They were in ballet class. In my childish innocence one day I asked their mother how they would ever be ballerinas when they were so fat. She looked at me and pointedly said, "well Nancy, they aren't going to be fat forever". And they weren't. I moved but then still ended up in high school with the two sisters. They were beautiful girls, thin and beautifully poised. If that is your plan with an overweight child - God bless you.
Bhutan - Get some Souveniers or see something you missed, moving from her soon.

Going to dance class tonight and maybe to the Y on the treadmill later.
Luke chapter 10 - about Mary and Martha. Mary wanted to sit and hear Jesus and Martha wanted to serve him. Jesus pointed out that when the opportunity presents itself, listen to the word of God before you work in the kitchen.
On this day;
1978 - It must not have been a very strenuous game of racquette ball that Pete and I played, I took a shower and did my hair before we went. What you wear matters if you go to a gym I think. Even if I am going to the Y to walk I think about what I wear, I don't have to do that at home - but I do. Don bought be some nice pants and a shirt to work out in and Nicole got me new shoes, all underarmor. I feel special. We used to wear raggy sweats, looked like we were seasoned. I guess I must have cared if I took a shower and did my hair first. The running clothes they have now are pretty snazzy, keeping right up with the biking clothes. Wear what you want but get active!
1980 - Six Americans who had fled the U.S. embassy in Tehran, Iran, on November 4, 1979, left Iran using false Canadian diplomatic passports. The Americans had been hidden at the Canadian embassy in Tehran. Yay! Canada!
Parenting - Sometime I lay awake at night and wonder what circumstances occur that would lead a woman to deliver a full term baby and let it die and then discard it as garbage. I then wonder how poor God can deal with all the pain and suffering and inhumanity in this world. Reach out if you know someone who is troubled and pregnant, offer any help you can, the agencies always find homes for healthy babies.
Bhutan - Just a couple more days here!

Dancing with Rita this morning. She does a nice warm up, and weights and then goes to the Conga and the Samba. Fun.
Psalm 63 -vs 4 "I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands." Lutherans are not very demonstrative, with the exception of camp. We don't lift our hands in praise, except at camp. There are no motions to songs to keep you in touch with the joy of the singing, except at camp. We never dance to songs, except at camp. Love camp!
On this day;
1968 - Don and I were playing cards with his Mom and Dad and his Aunts and Uncle. We used to play poker and drink coffee. The guys would go out to Dad's workshop once in a while, probably had a bottle out there. Don's mom would get mad and they would argue the rest of the night. I have at different times in my life played cards with some people, it is a nice way to pass time and chat. Maybe you should get a once a month card party together, just a suggestion.
1926 - John Baird, a Scottish inventor, demonstrated a pictorial transmission machine called television. Those Scots are very smart! Bet the Bhutanese don't think so, see below.
Parenting - We did things with our parents back then. Played cards, went to dances and socialized. I think it is a healthy experience that keeps family strong. Nicole and I do a lot of socializing together, she is fun and we have a good time. Hope you do too. Children also learn life skills from watching their parents in relationship with other people, so watch how you act in front of your kids. :)

Fast forward into trouble
Four years ago, Bhutan, the fabled Himalayan Shangri-la, became the last nation on earth to introduce television. Suddenly a culture, barely changed in centuries, was bombarded by 46 cable channels. And all too soon came Bhutan's first crime wave - murder, fraud, drug offences. Cathy Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy report from a country crash-landing in the 21st century.
April 2002 was a turbulent month for the people of Bhutan. One of the remotest nations in the world, perched high in the snowlines of the Himalayas, suffered a crime wave. The 700,000 inhabitants of a kingdom that calls itself the Land of the Thunder Dragon had never experienced serious law-breaking before. Yet now there were reports from many towns and villages of fraud, violence and even murder. The Bhutanese had always been proud of their incorruptible officials - until Parop Tshering, the 42-year-old chief accountant of the State Trading Corporation, was charged on April 5 with embezzling 4.5m ngultrums (£70,000). Every aspect of Bhutanese life is steeped in Himalayan Buddhism, and yet on April 13 the Royal Bhutan police began searching the provincial town of Mongar for thieves who had vandalised and robbed three of the country's most ancient stupas. Three days later in Thimphu, Bhutan's sedate capital, where overindulgence in rice wine had been the only social vice, Dorje, a 37-year-old truck driver, bludgeoned his wife to death after she discovered he was addicted to heroin. In Bhutan, family welfare has always come first; then, on April 28, Sonam, a 42-year-old farmer, drove his terrified in-laws off a cliff in a drunken rage, killing his niece and injuring his sister. Why was this kingdom with its head in the clouds falling victim to the kind of crime associated with urban life in America and Europe? For the Bhutanese, the only explanation seemed to be five large satellite dishes, planted in a vegetable patch, ringed by sugar-pink cosmos flowers on the outskirts of Thimphu. This is not good news.

Pilates for Dummies - Works out everything!
Nehemiah chapter 6 - The prophet was committed to rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. He had a lot of opposition from enemies and his own people as well. He prayed continuously for God's help and finished the rebuilding in 52 days. A monumental task even with God's help. He was as Pastor Beebe said yesterday, passionate about his work.
On this day;
2014 Last year -It was a day of worry. Aaron and Lisa were awaiting the birth of Martina and Nicole was flying home from Utah where she had been skiing. The weather (if you forgot last winter) was horrible for both occasions. Nicole would call from each stop and let me know that it was delayed. I was going to drive out to the airport to pick her up, but a 7 or 8 pm pickup kept getting later and the snow fall deeper. I finally told her to get a cab - I would rather pay for that then attempt the ride myself. She finally got home at 3AM and Martina waited for better weather.
1784 - In a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin expressed unhappiness over the eagle as the symbol of America. He wanted the symbol to be the turkey. He was a turkey! so glad that didn't happen. dumb bird.
Parenting - There is no end to the worry you have when you have kids. So worth it though.

A day of rest.
Went out to Christ Lutheran this morning. Pastor Beebe's sermon was based on the Gospel of Mark where Jesus calls the first disciples. Pastor asked us what we are passionate about. He talked about the disciples leaving their nets and families to follow Jesus. Pastor didn't think they just dropped the families and belongings, there is talk later about their continued ties. You don't have to walk around with just the clothes on your back and no place to live to follow Christ. You can write a blog and share the word, serve the poor, feed the homeless and care for one another while you still keep your home and family. Pastor was passionate about delivering his sermon, I liked it a lot!
On this day;
2013 - I was up in Roscommon and Andy came home from the hospital. I had to leave to come home because Nicole was going up to Michiluca winter camp and that left Mom home alone. Every year at this time for the last few years, usually Mom, but sometime Andy has been in the hospital. Mom is not feeling well this weekend and I need to take her to doctor tomorrow. This is a hard time of year for the elderly or people with chronic health problems. Drink more water! is my battle cry.
1971 - Maj. Gen. Idi Amin led a coup that deposed Milton Obote and became president of Uganda. Bad day for Uganda.
Parenting - Can you imagine the disciples mothers when their sons walked off to follow Jesus?
"You are going where with who and doing what?" Where will you sleep, what will you wear, who will feed you?" "How well do you know this guy Jesus?" "The job doesn't pay?" "Who are his parents? what do they do for a living, where do they live?"
Ha Bhutan - Last week here lets look at social services;
