January 18, 2015 Sunday

A day of rest.

Psalm 139  vs 7 - 16  "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb."
I like to remember this.  My soul belongs to God.

On this day;
1981 - My friend Sandy called to tell me her Dad had died in a car accident.  I believe she had already lost her mom.  I am one of the few that still has a living parent, I am blessed.  I do rent her out if you need one.

1896 - The x-ray machine was exhibited for the first time. It doesn't show the soul, only God can see that.

Parenting - The news has been horrible.  A dead newborn found at a recycling center in Roseville, thought to be a woman that they know got rid of her newborn, but they can't find.  No, it's another woman's discarded baby.  Then there is the mother that had quads and then died, the babies are ok, but how will they be without a mother?  Makes you want to turn off the tv and not read the paper.

Bhuton - I like this place;
Bhutanese cuisine (Dzongkha: འབྲུག་ཟས་; Wylie: brug-zas) employs a lot of red rice (like brown rice in texture, but with a nutty taste, the only variety of rice that grows at high altitudes), buckwheat, and increasingly maize. Buckwheat is eaten mainly in Bumthang, maize in the Eastern districts and rice elsewhere. The diet in the hills also includes chicken, yak meat, dried beef, pork, pork fat, and lamb. Soups and stews of meat, rice, ferns, lentils, and dried vegetables, spiced with chili peppers and cheese, are a favorite meal during the cold seasons. Zow shungo is a rice dish mixed with leftover vegetables. Ema datshi, is a spicy dish made with large, mainly green chillies in a cheesy sauce, (similar to chili con queso), might be called the national dish for its ubiquity and the pride that Bhutanese have for it. Other foods include jasha maru (a chicken dish), phaksha paa (dried pork cooked with chillies, spices and vegetables (mainly turnips, greens or radish), thukpa, bathup, and fried rice. Cheese made from cow's milk are called datshi and are never eaten raw but used to make sauces. Zoedoe is another type of cheese made mainly in the east and is used to add to soups. Zoedoe is normally greenish in colour and smells awful. Other types of cheese are mainly western types like Cheddar and Gouda. Western Cheese is made in the Swiss Cheese Factory in Bumthang or is imported from India.
Popular snacks include momo (Bhutanese dumplings), shakam eezay, khabzey (dried fritters made with flour,water and sugar and deep fried), shabalay, juma (Bhutanese sausages marinated in spices), and noodles. The restaurants can serve Chinese, Nepalese and Indian foods and are very popular in the country.Dairy foods, particularly butter and cheese from yaks and cows, are also popular, and indeed almost all milk is turned into butter and cheese. Popular beverages include butter tea (called Suja), milk tea (called ngaja) black tea, locally brewed ara (rice wine), and beer. Spices include curry, cardamom, ginger, thingay (Sichuan pepper), garlic, turmeric, and carawaySounds good!  I wonder if there are restaurants around?  Might have to make it ourselves.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!
