Get Faith
Acts 12:12-26 This tells of Peter's miraculous escape from prison where he was sentenced by Herod and then it goes on to tell of Herod's non-belief and being eaten by worms and dying.  This has God's hand all over it.  An angel appeared and simply walked Peter by the guards and through the gates that opened for them.  Fast reciprocation, a speedy trial, sentence and punishment from God himself on Herod.  Let's keep praying - God's justice can be swift.

On this day
1977 - Pete and I had a less than stable relationship.  The holidays were coming, the boat was in dry dock and so we reestablished our relationship again.  He was like clock work.  The moral here is now is not the time to break up with your husband, boyfriend/girlfriend or even steady significant other.  Hang in there till January, no one wants to spend the holidays alone.  Just a suggestion.

1913 - In Germany, Kaiser Wilhelm banned the armed forces from dancing the tango. Anybody?

Parenting
We still have the monster share of Nicole's books on the shelves here.  I can't part with them, it would be like throwing away a million memories of her childhood.  I have been finding a book that goes along with our geography lessons on every Tuesday with Cameron and Madison and a fun book for the end of class.  I'm in heaven.  I'm sure you are all reading with your kids and grandkids right?

Wish I could take a day off and finish this.

Kaarina Finland  cuisine

Karelian Hot Pot or Karjalan Paisti in Finnish is a traditional meat stew from the region of Karelia (now split between Finland and Russia). It’s commonly made with a combination of pork and beef but other proteins, like lamb, can be used. Finnish hot pot is typically seasoned with black peppercorns, allspice and bay leaves.
Hot pots or hotchpotch, as they are also known, exist in every cuisine. These rich, vegetable-meat stews can include whatever is on hand, thus a “hodgepodge.” Some cultures use organ meats, pig ears and pig feet and oysters, just not all in the same pot!
This Finnish stew is braised in a slow cooker so, once everything is chopped, it’s a real hands-off recipe. Serve Karelian Hot Pot as the Finns do, with mashed potatoes and cranberry or lingonberry preserves on the side.
