August 10, 2017 Thursday#PilatesbecauseIcan#strengthenyourbones#watermanners#MaunaKea!

Get Fit
Did almost an hour of Pilates.  Happy to say I still can.  Planning on a walk later too.  Sitting too much really depresses me.

Get Faith
Isaiah 58:11  "The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones, you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail."  It is so rejuvenating to hear these words of God's continous love and care for us.  I spent the day with Pam on Tuesday after closing on her house.  As we drove we spoke of our faith and wondered how anyone could live without it.  What a tremendous loss to not have this guidance and care.  How sad to not know the promise we have in Jesus Christ.  I pray that the whole world would learn of Jesus and be saved to our great future together.

On this day
1999   My boss and his son Doug went on a charity poker run on this day.  They did it every year, this might have been the last one for the boss.  Running at top speed across the lake in the hot sun, and drinking all day are kind of a recipe for disaster. (So says the old girl who loved that stuff 30 years ago)  Recently there have been serious accidents on the lake.  I  don't think the younger drivers are as well schooled in water safety and practices in right of way as they should be.  I have just been witness to that in the last few weeks.  Got one coming up?  Be careful and have a DD.

1999 - Near an India-Pakistan border area an Indian fighter jet shot down a Pakistani naval aircraft. Sixteen people were killed. WE don't k now how to avoid this do we?

Hawaii
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5,086 square miles (13,170 km2), of which 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2) is land and 1,058 square miles (2,740 km2) (20.8%) is water.[10] The county's land area comprises 62.7 percent of the state's land area. It is the highest percentage by any county in the United States.[11]
At its greatest dimension, the island is 93 miles (150 km) across. It has a land area of 4,028 square miles (10,430 km2)[12] comprising 62% of the Hawaiian Islands' land area. Measured from its sea floor base to its highest peak, Mauna Kea is the world's tallest mountain, taller than Mount Everest is, since the base of Mount Everest is above sea level.[13]
A view of the Kohala Coast and adjacent volcanoes, taken from the slopes of Kohala Mountains about 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Kawaihae. From left to right: Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai.
So the island is actually a mountain, submerged, but the tallest in the world!

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Anniversary to Aaron and Lisa!
