August 4, 2017 Friday#Dozen#Spiritofjoy#calmtimetogether#Fakenews?#Retire!

Get Fit
Now that I went and looked for the Daily Dozen - I see a lot of them, all based on the originals from the army manual apparently.  I am sure any of them would be fine for a fill in on the days that you are not going to the gym, running or walking for miles or even in addition to one of those activities.  Some of them can be done anywhere you are because there is no gear that you need, which is convenient.

Get Faith
Psalm 107:8-9  "Oh...give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!  For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness."  The writer of this study said - "God gave us the greatest ingredient of all to meet our needs no matter what life brings our way; the warm presence of His Holy Spirit.  As Christians, our souls periodically become drained.  We grow weak and irritable.  Before long, we crave precious time with the Lord so we can be strengthened by His calming Presence."  May the Holy Spirit be with you all today and fill you with that reminder that we have everything to smile about - we are saved.

On this day
1988  I was blessed to be in a position to call off the world if Nicole or Aaron were sick.  This day Nicole had a fever through the night so I called Mom and Quality and cancelled everything else to stay with her.  As many of these things go - by noon she was fine so I took her in the car to run some errands and had a quiet day of time together.  Mark and Marty were both out in the evening so Nicole and I had a nice dinner together and probably watched Disney movies till bedtime.  I realize many people do not have this luxury and have to leave kids with sitters when they are sick - they will be fine and if it is Friday like today you can make up for it tomorrow if you are home.  Calm time can heal an ailing child - or anyone.

1735 - Freedom of the press was established with an acquittal of John Peter Zenger. The writer of the New York Weekly Journal had been charged with seditious libel by the royal governor of New York. The jury said that "the truth is not libelous." I worry about the media's influence on the public.  I also worry about him and his "fake" news.  The reality above is something to think about today.
