Get Faith
Isaiah 58:11  "The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail."  How refreshing does that sound?  Is there reason to fear God?  Yes, but reading the Bible will tell you that there is so much restoring of your soul and being loved by God that your biggest fear should be of losing God, not choosing to be with Him.  He never leaves us, so be with Him and be satisfied.

Get Fit
My daughter is training for a race next month.  They will run from Muskegan to Traverse City on shared laps and raise money for Living Waters Ministry scholarships for the Lutheran camp that she works at.  They provide living experiences and a faith in God to children from many churches, not just Lutheran and social services foster children, the impaired and racial equality and training camps for a better understanding for the next generation.  Now that is true exercise!

On this day
1990  A nice summer day, a Friday - Adele dropped off Merri and Lindsey for the weekend.  Nicole would have been 5, Lindsey 11 and Merri 13.  Roxanne lived next door so I'm pretty sure the girls were happy to be here for the weekend, because Roxanne's son Carmen was there.  He was a huge draw.  So it says we had KFC for dinner on the patio.  Nice.

1792 - King Louis XVI was taken into custody by mobs during the French Revolution. He was executed the following January after being put on trial for treason.  It is not always good to be king.

Vietnam

Reunification and reforms

In the aftermath of the war, under Lê Duẩn's administration, there were no mass executions of South Vietnamese who had collaborated with the U.S. or the Saigon government, confounding Western fears.[68]However, up to 300,000 South Vietnamese were sent to reeducation camps, where many endured torture, starvation, and disease while being forced to perform hard labor.[69] The government embarked on a mass campaign of collectivization of farms and factories.[70] This caused[dubious ] economic chaos and resulted in triple-digit inflation, while national reconstruction efforts progressed slowly. In 1978, the Vietnamese military invaded Cambodia to remove from power the Khmer Rouge, who had been attacking Vietnamese border villages.[71]Vietnam was victorious, installing a government in Cambodia which ruled until 1989.[72] This action worsened relations with the Chinese, who launched a brief incursion into northern Vietnam in 1979.[73] This conflict caused Vietnam to rely even more heavily on Soviet economic and military aid.
At the Sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in December 1986, reformist politicians replaced the "old guard" government with new leadership.[74][75] The reformers were led by 71-year-old Nguyễn Văn Linh, who became the party's new general secretary.[74][75] Linh and the reformers implemented a series of free-market reforms – known as Đổi Mới ("Renovation") – which carefully managed the transition from a planned economy to a "socialist-oriented market economy".[76][77]
Though the authority of the state remained unchallenged under Đổi Mới, the government encouraged private ownership of farms and factories, economic deregulation and foreign investment, while maintaining control over strategic industries.[77] The Vietnamese economy subsequently achieved strong growth in agricultural and industrial production, construction, exports and foreign investment. These reforms have also caused a rise in income inequality and gender disparities.[78][79][80]  This is interesting to see how Vietnam has changed to find out what works
to rebuild.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable
