March 13, 2018 Tuesday #snapback#snapback#noanswer#Byzantine.

Get Fit
I am developing a new set of exercises with the resistance bands Nicole bought me for my birthday.  There are 3 bands that say ultra light, light and medium.  I use the medium on the leg workouts and the ultra light on my arms.  Nicole finds humor in watching my limbs snap back together after a stretch.  Not sure that is supposed to happen but it is at least entertaining.

Get Faith
Isaiah 41:10  "Do not be dismayed.  I am your God.  I will strengthen you; I will help you..."  This is a following verse to .."those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.."  We can get a message to be strong but often we fall back or have additional issues to set us back.  Funny how God knows this and follows up with a reminder.  He is there and he does know what your struggles are, do not lose hope.  He has a plan for you - forever.

On this day
2011   Nicole was living in Chicago and had to leave to go back after coming home for her friend Lawrence's wedding the night before.  I was invited to Aaron's house for his son Anthony's first birthday.  The basement was jammed with people for the party - long tables of people sitting and eating - it was like a wedding.  It is a disappointment in my life that I do not know why there is a separation between Aaron and his wife and Nicole and I.  Maybe some day I will understand why.

1519 - Cortez landed in Mexico. Wonder where he flew in from?

Continuing Turkey History

Byzantine Period[edit]

Originally a church, later a mosque, and now a museum, the Hagia Sophiain Istanbul was built by the Byzantinesin the 6th century.
The Persian Achaemenid Empire fell to Alexander the Great in 334 BC,[14] which led to increasing cultural homogeneity and Hellenization in the area.[15]Following Alexander's death in 323 BC, Anatolia was subsequently divided into a number of small Hellenistic kingdoms, all of which became part of the Roman Republic by the mid-1st century BC.[16] The process of Hellenization that began with Alexander's conquest accelerated under Roman rule, and by the early centuries AD the local Anatolian languages and cultures had become extinct, being largely replaced by ancient Greek language and culture.[17][18]
In 324, Constantine I chose Byzantium to be the new capital of the Roman Empire, renaming it New Rome. Following the death of Theodosius I in 395 and the permanent division of the Roman Empire between his two sons, the city, which would popularly come to be known as Constantinople became the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. This, which would later be branded by historians as the Byzantine Empire, ruled most of the territory of what is today Turkey until the Late Middle Ages,[19] while the other remaining territory remained in Sassanid Persian hands.
Between the 3rd and 7th century AD, the Byzantines and the neighboring Sassanids frequently clashed over possession of Anatolia, which significantly exhausted both empires, thus laying the way open for the eventual Muslim conquests from both empires' respective south.  This history is well recorded.

Enjoy the day!  Make it memorable!  Happy Birthday Teresa, Kearia, Lisa and Corrine
