January 3, 2016 Sunday #Beginning#backtonormal#earlybird#fillthattime#MnkonaiB

Get Faith
Ecclesiastes 3:2 "a time to plant and and a time to uproot,"  Pastor Beebe's sermon was on the opening of the Gospel of St John.  It speaks of beginnings.  As Genesis - so starts the Gospel "In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God."  Jesus is the Word and the truth and the light from the beginning till forever.  The new year is a good time to begin to plant and reroot.  Plant a seed in yourself and someone else to build your faith and grow it into a new beginning.  Uproot the old ways that don't suit you anymore and begin a new path to follow Jesus.

On this day
1994 - This is the first or second day that life goes back to normal.  Back to school, back to work, home from vacation,  decorating undone and so on.  A man at church was saying that he has to go back to work tomorrow, as this year is Sunday, back to work after being off 11 days with all the busyness of the holidays over.  He was going to spend it on the couch.  It was the first day in 1994 for Nicole to go back to school and me back to work, stopping at Mom's apartment to check on her and home to make dinner.

1496 - References in Leonardo da Vinci notebooks suggested that he tested his flying machine. The test didn't succeed and he didn't try to fly again for several years. There are blueprints available of his machines he built - get the copy, the originals are very expensive!  Flying in 1496, who knew?

Family
My life will change dramatically now.  I usually called Mom everyday, most days saw her and in more recent years cared for all her needs.  It was something on my mind everyday.  I thank God for not letting her get sick and prolonging death.  She was happy and then she was gone.  God is good.  I will have to find ways to fill that time and I am sure I will.

Book Club - any suggestions?

Mykolaiv Ukraine - History

Name of city[edit]

The city uses two names of which there are several transliterations of each name. The Ukrainian name of the city is Микола́їв, for which thetransliteration is Mykolaiv, or officially, Mykolayiv. The Russian name is Никола́ев, which transliterates as Nikolaev or Nikolayev.
The city's founding was made possible by the conquests of the Second Russo-Turkish War. Founded by Prince Grigory Potemkin, Nikolaev was the last of the many cities he established. On 27 August 1789, Potemkin ordered its founding near the wharf at the mouth of the Ingul river, on a high, cool and breezy spot where the Ingul river meets the Bug river. To build the city he brought in peasants, soldiers, and Turkish prisoners; 2,500 were working there during 1789. The shipyards were built first. He named the city after Saint Nicholas, the patron of seafarers, on whose day (6 December) he obtained victory at the siege of Ochakov.[2] The name Nikolaev is known from the legal order (writ) Number 1065 by Prince Potemkin to Mikhail Faleev dated 27 August 1789.[3]  A little lesson on the Russian alphabet and the St Nicolas.

Enjoy the Day!  Make it Memorable!  Happy Birthday  Peter!
