January 8, 2016 Friday #Pilatesinterrupted#Godisall#badpipes#greatart!

Get Fit
Pilates  - tried to get a workout in but the phone, the cat and other distractions got in the way.  Some days just don't work - but don't make that an excuse for tomorrow!  Don't quit!

Get Faith
Ecclesiastes 3:5a "a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,"   According to Luther Ecclesiastes is a book of comfort believed to be written by King Solomon.  The wise king but even he knew that all is God's and God is all.  This verse today seems to me like a possible suggestion for possibly the stock market, which is not doing real well right now.  It is telling me to not spend what I don't have.  Trust in God to give you the knowledge of what is important.

On this Day
2004 - on this day I was home, maybe laid off for part of the season and I had to clean under the sink and wash the kitchen floor.  I assume I had a plumbing problem, which considering my kitchen was less than 10 years old was a surprise.  It seems most plumbing problems are in the winter, am I wrong?

1815 - The Battle of New Orleans began. The War of 1812 had officially ended on December 24, 1814, with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent. The news of the signing had not reached British troops in time to prevent their attack on New Orleans.  Who remembers the song "In 1815 we took a little trip down ........?"  About this war "ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles".

Friends
I was with friends last night to celebrate their son and his fiancees engagement.  Kristin was relating her nightmare of an old house they bought in Grosse Pointe that has been nothing but trouble.  It is the plumbing and I will never complain about my kitchen drain leaking again.  It was nothing compared to the past and current problems my friend is having.  She wins if you can call it that.  Do you have a horrible plumbing story?

Mykolaiv Ukraine

History[edit]

"View of the City of Nikolaev", painting by Fedor Alexeev, 1799.
The history of the city has always been closely connected to ship building.[12] The town was founded in 1789 by the Russian Governor General ofNovorossiya, Prince Grigory Potemkin, initially as a shipyard called simply a New Shipyard on the Ingul river[citation needed]. Prince Potemkin signed an order to construct a shipyard on 27 August 1789, which is considered to be the city's birth date.[citation needed] The shipyard was to undertake the repair of naval ships in the Russo-Turkish War. Later[when?] Potemkin ordered the shipyard to be named Nikolaev to commemorate the date when Ochakovfell to the Russian troops under his command on 6 December 1788, the feast day of Saint Nicholas (Nikolai) on the Russian Orthodox Churchcalendar.[citation needed]
The Russian Empire's Black Sea Navy Headquarters was in Mykolaiv for more than 100 years until the Russian Navy moved it to Sevastopol, near the Southern tip of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula. During the Crimean War Mykolaiv became the main rear base to support Russia's efforts in the war. Most businesses that were created in the city belonged to the military industrial complex, and, in this regard, Mykolaiv, was closed to foreign visitors for many decades.[13]    The painting, if you look closely is amazing!"  It also brings to mind why Russia was so interested in keeping the Crimean Peninsula.

Enjoy the Day!  Make it Memorable!  Happy Birthday to Janice !  and Dave
